With a partner, acquired controlling interest In the Aurora Pump Co. i 1937 which they developed from 12 employees to over 300 when they sold the busia to New York Air Brake Co. in 1952. He came to Chicago where he worked as a photographer ' Marshall Field & Co. for 24 yrs; worked for Cresent Studio as their photographe in the advertising business for 22 yrs. In his younger days, his hobby was mou eering and has climbed many of the major peaks from New Mexico and Arizona to northern rockies in Canada. Research Chemist with the Monsanto Chemical Co., Boston, Mass., 1950-51. Assc^i|j Professor of Chemistry at the Arlington, Texas branch of the University of Texa Registered Professional Engineer in the States of Indiana and Texas. ''<*Whereas anciently from the begining the valient & vertuous Acts of worthy persons nave been comended to the World with sundry Monuments and Remembrances of their good Ideserts, amongst the which the chleftest and most usual hath been the bearing of Signs fiin Shields called Arms, which are evident demonstrations of Prowess and Valoir diverslye distributed according to the qualities and deserts of the persons meriting the same, to the entent yt such as by their vertues do show forth to the advancement of the common weale the shine of their good life and conversation in daily practise of lyings worthy and comendable, being the right and perfect tokens of a Noble dis- position, may therefore receive due Honor in their lives, and also derive the same Successively to their posteritie after them, and being credibly informed not only by common renown but also by report of divers Gentlemen worthy of Credit that James Clepole of Norborow in the County of Northampton gent hath long continued in virtue and in all his affairs hath so vertuously behaved himself that he hath well deserved uid is worthy to be from henceforth admitted accepted and received into the number 9f other ancient Gentlemen. "For remembrance where of I the said Clarencieulx King of Arms have by power and iuthorite to my office annexed & granted by Letters Patent under the great Seal of England, devysed & ordained & assigned unto and for the said JAMES CLEPOLE the Arms ind Crest hereafter followingi That is to say The fylde gold, a Cheveron Azure between three Roundles, or otherwise in blason Horts, and to his Crest upon the lelme on a Wreath gold and Azure, out of a Crowne, A Flower de luce Silver, Mantled ^les doubled Silver, as more plainly appeareth depicted in this margent. :*To have and to hold the said Armes and Crest to the said JAMES CLEPOLE, Gentleman ,ind to his posteritie, with due differences and they the same to use and enjoy for ever without impediment lett or Interruption of any person, or persons according to the antient Law of Arms. Three of their grandsons, Edward, Norton, and James Claypole, sons of Sir John and Mary (Angell) Claypole, came to America during the 17th century. They played an important part in helping Will lam Penn make his colony a success. Little do we appneciate the trials and tribulations of our first ancestors in America so that we might enjoy "the blessings of liberty to our- selves and our posterity." Edward Claypoole settled in Barbados, W.I .,C^orton^ettled in Delaware, and James in Philadelphia, Pa.
