As always, your comments, contributions and critique are welcome - Send to me at [email protected] Chairman's Report The Committee has not been idle during this lockdown and is managing issues of the Club virtually to determine the way forward when the Club reopens for business. The Committee is highly appreciative of Ancient Mariners and Honorary members who have forfeited their privilege of no subs, to make a donation for this financial year to assist the Club tackle the financial predicament it finds itself in during this lockdown period. The same appreciation goes towards the 100 club winners who have donated their winnings back to the Club. BZ. The Club is still fortunate to be able to remunerate its staff during this period with the exception of the Club Manager who has refused to take a salary and donated it back to the Club. This, once again, is highly appreciated. The good intentions of the above is soured a bit by certain members who have yet to pay their annual subscription. I urge those members to settle their accounts as soon as possible. Jonathan Golding is putting an auction together during this lockdown period to generate funding for the Club. It would appreciated if members support this endeavor as much as possible. Looking forward to seeing you all at the Club, sooner rather than later. Be safe. I believe it is the most comprehensive and accurate you will find anywhere. However, although I have tried to make sure the information presented here is as correct and accurate as possible, some reservation is always necessary. Research is continuously progressing and may lead to new findings. The American Road Courses pdf-documents lists nearly 160 road courses of past and present in the United States and Canada. These files are the most comprehensive and accurate sources for racing circuits in said countries. My website also lists nearly 5000 dates of motorcycle road races in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Luxembourg and Switzerland, allowing you to see exactly when many of the motorcycle circuits listed in the Rennen! Vitesse! Page 3 Foreword Motorsport essentially consists of three ingredients. First, you need a motor vehicle - which can be anything from a Formula 1 car to a lawn mower, or from a MotoGP motorcycle to a pocket bike. Second, you need a driver or rider to operate the vehicle, and finally, a place to go racing - a circuit. To most people this last ingredient is probably the least interesting. The number of books about famous racing drivers and cars, or great riders and their motorcycles, is far larger than the number of books about racing circuits. However, to me circuits are the most interesting aspect of motorsport, for two main reasons. First is their great diversity: in terms of shape, layout, length, difficulty, fame and many other factors, every circuit is different, and each has its own story to tell. Second, it is fascinating to see just how many circuits there are. Once you start looking, you can find them just about any- where. Finding lost circuits or discovering long-forgotten tracks is one of the most fun aspects of researching racing circuits. When looking for information about racing circuits online, I often found it frustrating that the available sources were not complete, and that they often lacked detail and accuracy. This is one of the reasons why I started my website www.wegcircuits.nl and why I made Rennen! Races! Vitesse! - a downloadable pdf-file that lists racing circuits of past and present in four European countries: the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and Austria. -

Juni 2013 HOCHEFFIZIENTES KRAFTPAKET FÜR DIE KÖNIGSKLASSE RENAULT SPORT F1 PRÄSENTIERT NEUES FORMEL 1-TRIEBWERK FÜR 2014 Renault stellt im Rahmen der internationalen Luftfahrtmesse in Le Bourget sein neues Formel 1-Antriebssystem Energy F1-2014 vor. Kernstück ist ein komplett neu entwickelter 1,6-Liter-V6-Turbomotor mit rund 440 kW/600 PS Leistung. Weitere 120 kW/160 PS werden von umfangreichen Systemen zur Energierückgewinnung bereitgestellt. In der Gesamtsystemleistung ist die neue Antriebseinheit stärker als die aktuellen 2,4-Liter-V8-Saugmotoren, während gleichzeitig der Kraftstoffverbrauch um 35 Prozent sinkt. Mit dem hocheffizienten Kraftpaket untermauert Renault seine Position als führender Motorenhersteller der Formel 1. Ab 2014 hält auch in der Formel 1 der Trend zum Motorendownsizing Einzug, den Renault in der Serie bereits massgeblich geprägt hat. Das neue Motorenreglement schreibt den Einsatz von energieeffizienten 1,6-Liter-Aggregaten mit Turboaufladung und umfangreicher Energierückgewinnung vor. Der Energy F1-2014 demonstriert Verbindung von Serie und Rennsport Ziel des Automobil-Weltverbands FIA ist es, die Rolle der Formel 1 als Testlabor für die Serie zu stärken. Dies gilt insbesondere für die Entwicklung leistungsstarker und energieeffizienter Turboaggregate sowie die stärkere Elektrifizierung des Antriebsstrangs. Um die enge Verbindung zwischen Serie und Rennstrecke zu demonstrieren, nennt Renault sein neues Formel 1-Triebwerk „Energy F1-2014“. „Unsere grosse Aufgabe wird darin bestehen, die Energieeffizienz zu steigern und gleichzeitig das hohe Leistungsvermögen zu erhalten, das von Formel 1-Fahrzeugen erwartet wird“, erklärt Jean-Michel Jalinier, Präsident von Renault Sport F1, die kommenden Herausforderungen. „Renault hat hier mit seinen ENERGY-Motoren in der Serie bereits wichtige Pionierarbeit geleistet“, so Jalinier weiter.
