The Coordinators: heard the European Commission report about its recently published Communication on the “Reform of the administrative structure of the European Schools”, suggesting that also a more fundamental reform of the European Schools’ governance be considered.

The Coordinators: heard the Chair recall that, following recent low attendance, Members are obliged to attend and participate in CULT meetings, and endorsed the Chair’s decision to limit the future activities of the Committee to its core business and agree on any additional activities (e.g. hearings, presentations, etc.) only on the condition that the political groups ensure that at least half of their CULT Members are present; heard the Chair recall the unfortunate cancellation of the planned CULT mission to Leeuwarden due to a lack of Members, and report that the planned mission to San Francisco has not been authorised by the CoP, with a final decision of the CoP on CULT’s contestation of that decision due on 28 June 2018; took note of the fact that, if the mission to San Francisco is ultimately approved, participating CULT Members need to be available during the summer break in order to guarantee proper preparation of the mission, which is already scheduled for September; heard the Chair recall the high-level conference on “Cultural Heritage in Europe” under the aegis of EP President Antonio TAJANI, scheduled for 26 June 2018 (14:00-19:00), and invite all CULT Members to sign up for this conference; heard the Chair refer to a draft letter to be addressed to the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy on the difficult schooling situation of children in the Palestine territories, and decided to postpone their decision on a final draft until their next meeting; heard the Chair report on the establishment of a project team for the EP’s Presidency of the “Parliamentary Assembly – Union for the Mediterranean”, and provide an overview of the activities planned during the presidency.
