Palabras clave: Representación social, Otaku, identidad, Japón, Arequipa, manga y anime vii ABSTRACT The present research is entitled "Social representations in relation to the manga-anime phenomenon in Arequipean young people who claim to have built an identity as Otakus", which has as its main objective to know the social representation in Arequipean young people who call themselves "Otaku" in relation to your identity. With a qualitative approach and a constructive-interpretative method, the content of the discourse offered by a sample of 7 young people calling themselves "Otaku" was investigated and analyzed, contrasting them with bibliographical sources and field work; the sample was given an open type questionnaire, field registration, conversation and observation. The results showed in detail the subjective world of "being" "Otaku" where from the social object (the anime-manga) the field of social representation is consolidated, which is linked to the identity of the person who calls himself Arequipean "Otaku" differs from the Japanese "Otaku"; it is so that the Arequipean "Otaku" feels captured by the nature of the stories with which he comes in contact where he identifies with some of these series so they choose to call each other by nicknames that in most cases is about of characters from anime series, it also shows the constant relationship of the social representation "Otaku" with the identity "Otaku" from which something arises for the "Otaku" from Arequipa named as a way of life framed in anime and manga, constituting with it the encounter between two cultures Japan and Arequipa, leading them to represent themselves socially as Otakus where the Arequipean "Otaku" produces culture creating practices collectively and seeks to actively become a diffuser of a part of Japanese culture. Keywords: Social representation, Otaku, identity, Japan, Arequipa, manga and anime. viii ÍNDICE PRESENTACIÓN ................................................................................................................ iii DEDICATORIA ................................................................................................................... iv AGRADECIMIENTOS......................................................................................................... v RESUMEN ........................................................................................................................... vi ABSTRACT ........................................................................................................................ vii ÍNDICE............................................................................................................................... viii ÍNDICE DE FIGURAS ....................................................................................................... xii ÍNDICE DE TABLAS........................................................................................................ xiii INTRODUCCIÓN................................................................................................................. 1 CAPITULO I CONSIDERACIONES INICIALES 1.1 PLANTEAMIENTO DEL PROBLEMA .......................................................................... 4 1.2 OBJETIVOS ............................................................................................................... 5 1.2.1 Objetivo General ...................................................................................................... 5 1.2.2 Objetivos Específicos .............................................................................................. 5 1.3 HIPOTESIS: ............................................................................................................... 5 1.4 JUSTIFICACIÓN: ...................................................................................................... 6 1.5 ANTECEDENTES DE LA INVESTIGACIÓN........................................................ 8 1.6 LIMITACIONES DEL ESTUDIO ........................................................................... 10 1.7 DEFINICIÓN DE TÉRMINOS................................................................................ 10 1.7.1 Definición de Representaciones sociales ............................................................... 10 1.7.2 Definición de Identidad ......................................................................................... 10 1.7.3 Definición de Otaku..............................................................................................

  • Talking Like a Shōnen Hero: Masculinity in Post-Bubble Era
Talking like a Shōnen Hero: Masculinity in Post-Bubble Era Japan through the Lens of Boku and Ore Hannah E. Dahlberg-Dodd The Ohio State University Abstract Comics (manga) and their animated counterparts (anime) are ubiquitous in Japanese popular culture, but rarely is the language used within them the subject of linguistic inquiry. This study aims to address part of this gap by analyzing nearly 40 years’ worth of shōnen anime, which is targeted predominately at adolescent boys. In the early- and mid-20th century, male protagonists saw a shift in first-person pronoun usage. Pre-war, protagonists used boku, but beginning with the post-war Economic Miracle, shōnen protagonists used ore, a change that reflected a shift in hegemonic masculinity to the salaryman model. This study illustrates that a similar change can be seen in the late-20th century. With the economic downturn, salaryman masculinity began to be questioned, though did not completely lose its hegemonic status. This is reflected in shōnen works as a reintroduction of boku as a first- person pronoun option for protagonists beginning in the late 90s. Key words sociolinguistics, media studies, masculinity, yakuwarigo October 2018 Buckeye East Asian Linguistics © The Author 31 1. Introduction Comics (manga) and their animated counterparts (anime) have had an immense impact on Japanese popular culture. As it appears on television, anime, in addition to frequently airing television shows, can also be utilized to sell anything as mundane as convenient store goods to electronics, and characters rendered in an anime-inspired style have been used to sell school uniforms (Toku 2007:19).

Proselytization by fans ignited the anime movement in America, despite Japanese copyright holders’ abandonment of the American market. The author presents an historical and legal analysis to demonstrate that, at least in one case spanning two decades, fans’ continual infringement of copyright spurred the progress of commerce and the arts. 1 MIT Japan Program Working Paper Series 04.02 Center for International Studies Massachusetts Institute of Technology Room E38-7th Floor Cambridge, MA 02139 Phone: 617-252-1483 Fax: 617-258-7432 Date of Publication: November 2, 2004 © Sean Leonard 2 Table of Contents 1. Good but very shortBy RedInkBlotAs someone who has seen the series this book comes up short. The first fight the cyborgs get into is only a few pages long before it's over. The second fight feels like even less. Then they confront black ghost. It skips over anything involving the other cyborgs past and only has them fight two other cyborgs. It only gives one page that briefly describes who all the other cyborgs are.If it was a longer book that was more fleshed out with details of would be great but given the price I can understand why it's as short as it is. Just wish it would have at least ended where a part one book would end and given us more books with this style rather than rushing through it as fast as possible.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Westernized Cyborg 009: Still AwesomeBy cmccrzySince I first started watching this, I always wondered what "Cyborg 009" would look like if it was not done in such a cartoony style, and that's what this is.
