Supergirl Vol 4 9 "Tempus Fugit" May, Supergirl Vol 4 12 "Cries in the Darkness" August, Matt rated it it was amazing Apr 06, However, I do prefer the more recent issues of the series, which send Kara-El Supergirl's Kryptonian name on a space quest with Krypto the Super-Dog and art by the always dependable Kevin Maguire. The one after that will be straight garbage that no effort whatsoever was put into. Jun 08, Mike marked it as series-in-progress. This issue tells the New 52 origin of Cyborg Superman. I'm not entirely sure how I feel about the new origin for the villain, and it seems like the whole situation's logic is terribly, terribly flawed, but I'm no scientist. Supergirl: Volume 4 Writer Incorporating elements of the popular TV series seemed like a good idea, but what the TV series has that this comic book lacks are a charismatic main character and endearing supporting characters like J'onn J'onnz and Alex Danvers. Jul 03, Kyle rated it it was ok Shelves: dcu. Release date: Kara is still upset, and for all of the struggles she has faced, the writers seem hesitant to allow her grow as the inheritor of her father's legacy. Supergirl Vol 4 51 "Making a Splash" December, Richard Bonk Illustrator ,. New series writer Michael Alan Nelson gives Kara her most distinctive voice yet, although she does seem to have picked up a lot of Earth colloquialisms between issues. The issue that tracked Zor-El's conflict with Jor-El about how best to save Krypton from destruction was outstanding. This is a very bad end and a very bad series overall, it started strong and dropped everything that worked well for the first arc and threw it out the window. Paperback , pages. The main plot involving Cyborg Superman or Cy for short, apparently is kinda lack-lustre, and not very compelling since so much time is dedicated to explaining-away a strange, alien collective entity. Slightly better than the last volume. Not great, just ok. This book just can't get it together ever since the first volume. Very inconsistent title. Supergirl Vol 4 22 "Comet's Tale" June, Enlarge cover. Supergirl: Volume 4 Reviews There was more depth here even though I still think Supergirl is a brat. Avoid at all costs. Science Fiction. This book should have either ended with Supergirl 24 or it should have also included Action Comics Annual 2 and Superboy 25, which are parts 1 and 2 of "Krypton Returns". There are no discussion topics on this book yet. When someone comes to a friend with troubles they aren't suppose to hear that they need to suffer in silence because other people also suffer. But Supergirl's not only contending with Superwoman; she's also struggling to choose sides for the battle Kara's long-lost Kryptonian parents are waging on Earth. It is a completely different character than the one in the comic and it is annoying having to explain to people that Kara doesn't dress in that horrible costume at all in the comic. Neves' art pisses me off. Supergirl Vol 4 72 "Spiders and Snakes" September, Check out my online review! Neither story is perfect and I'm going to take off a whole point due to the fragmented story. At the 3 last chapters, i lost it but everything was going so fast and this is why i give only 4 stars. These cookies are necessary to provide our site and services and therefore cannot be disabled. It's little editorial things like this that just grate on me. This issue tells the New 52 origin of Cyborg Superman. The gang of misfits, weirdos and two-fisted The powerful Strange Visitor blames Supergirl for the maddening pain she's suffered since her return. Mar 09, Michael Church rated it it was ok Shelves: dc-comics. What's worse is how disjointed the story is. Contains adult content? I think that DC really poorly labeled the Villains month If Kara had died in this volume, it would've just been a relief that I didn't need to worry about whether or not to buy Volume 5. Start your review of Supergirl, Volume 4: Plain Sight. Bones, a skeleton in a suit literally and a former super-villain gone semi-legit as director of something called the Department of Extra-Normal Operations. Just stop after issue 24 and go find Annual 2 for Action Comics and Superboy 25 to read before continuing the book. The entire Volume is basically Supergirl trying to find a balance between her hero life and the normal life of Kara Danvers, all while Director Bones keeps throwing supervillains at her as a way to bring her in, and she keeps trying to show the people of National City that she is on their side. Still, it can't help but feel that the direction of this title means it will never be great. The art from Mahmad Asrar is long gone and the writing by Michael Nelson has gone really far downhill. She runs into a planet that can become any other planet, and it needs her memories to become Krypton Curse of the Ancients Jo Whittemore. Robson Rocha. To make matters worse the DEO, now under new management with Director Bones at its head, is also out for blood, and Bones will employ any means necessary to take down the Girl of Steel — even unleashing previously captured supervillains to do the job! Do Not Pass Go Hasbro Inc., the toy giant that sells Monopoly, asked the board this week to block a Croatian company from registering a “Drinkopoly” logo as a trademark. In a notice of opposition, Hasbro said the sound-alike name and logo would confuse consumers – and the company had pretty impressive stats to back up the claim. “From 1934 to present, Hasbro has sold more than 220 million sets of the Monopoly board game,” the company wrote, citing the year the game was first sold by Parker Brothers, which was later acquired by Hasbro. “From 2007 to present, Hasbro's sales of products under its Monopoly marks worldwide have exceeded $3,000,000,000,” the company wrote. “The Monopoly board game is sold in over 26 languages in more than 80 countries around the world.” Over the past two years, Hasbro has filed similar cases against applications to register “Monopoly Movement,” “Alec Monopoly,” “Monopoly Enterprises,” “Slotopoly" and “Monopoly Hotels and Resorts.” Hasbro is represented by Frankfurt Kurnit Klein & Selz PC.

A major critique of the genre is that it simply represents an adolescent male power fantasy; and presents a world view that valorises masculinist individualism.

It argues that this connection was not integral to the character as he was originally created, but was imposed by later writers over time and mainly for cinematic adaptations. This thesis also tracks the history of how Christians and churches viewed Superman, as the film studios began to exploit marketing opportunities by comparing Superman and Jesus. This thesis uses the methodological framework of intertextuality to ground its treatment of the sources, but does not follow all of the assumptions of intertextual theorists. iii MA Thesis—Robert Revington; McMaster University, Religious Studies ABSTRACT This thesis examines the historical trajectory of how the comic book character of Superman came to be identified as a Christ figure in popular consciousness. The last Supergirl trade (before New 52) contains 3 arcs and resolves threads from previous volumes (and War of Supermen)By R. H.This is the last trade collection from Supergirl before the New 52 and contains 3 arcs. (DC cancelled the Good-looking Corpse trade that was supposed to come after this one.)The first and longest arc deals with the trade's title, Bizarrogirl, and the story there accomplishes much in allowing Supergirl to move beyond the events of the War of the Supermen and also helping out Bizarro's cuboid Earth (yep, this is the same one from Superman: Escape From Bizarroworld). The adventure is very fun, full of fights and hilarity (as expected from stories involving Bizarros). Plus, the emotions explored here work well in Supergirl facing her doubts and self-inflicted guilt from the aforementioned war.The second arc is an entertaining one-shot with the Legion of Superheros (although a different iteration from previous Supergirl trades). The final arc deals with a seemingly mundane villain, but the context in this final arc finally brings to a closure a previously unresolved thread from earlier Supergirl trades.
