Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Ahmad Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah and Saudi Minister of Energy Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman Al-Saud inked the deals. Kuwaiti Minister of Oil and Minister of Electricity and Water Khaled Al-Fadhel and the Saudi minister of energy signed a memo of understanding. Kuwait and Saudi Arabia’s collective histories are dot- ted with instances of “exemplary cooperation”, Fadhel said during a lavish ceremony held at Wafra Joint Operations later yesterday. Production from the Khafji and Wafra fields will not affect the two countries’ OPEC commitments to reduce oil output, added the minister, expressing hope that resumed production would pay dividends for the Kuwaiti and Saudi economies. In spite of a very good start, Gerard De Rooy, co-driver Moi Torrallardona and the experienced Polish mechanic Rodewald, were forced to stop the truck before the finish line, exactly at the CP2. “We started this morning well motivated – said De Rooy – but unfortunately, after about 100 km, we decided to stop at CP2 because of a mechanical problem.” It was not an easy day for IVECO: Ton Van Genugten, behind the wheel of his #306 Trakker Evolution, finished the stage in 10th position, 51m42s behind the first. After stage 5, the driver is 10th also in the partial general classification. Artur Ardavichus and Belgian co-pilot Bruynkens drove the #310 Powerstar avoiding to take risks and closed the day just behind teammate Van Genugten: for the Kazakh pilot the result of this 5th leg confirmed his 5th position in the truck overall classification of the Silk Way Rally.

    Press information Engines from Liebherr for successful Kamaz racing trucks in Dakar rally Bulle, FR (Switzerland) March 31, 2014 – Among the 75 trucks that took up the starting position in January 2014 for the Dakar rally, five were trucks from Kamaz Master, the motor sport team from the Russian company Kamaz OJSC. Three of the trucks were equipped with 8-cylinder engines from Liebherr. In the overall ranking, the trucks gained third and fifth place. The third truck had to retire during the second stage of the race due to an accident on difficult terrain. In mid- March 2014, one of the trucks used in the rally and its driver, Eduard Nikolaev, came to visit Liebherr Machines Bulle SA where the engines were developed and manufactured. Kamaz in Dakar rally The Dakar rally, or better known simply as The Dakar, is one of the toughest challenges for drivers, vehicles and their components. Since 2009, for reasons of safety, its venue is no longer North Africa but Latin America instead. In 2014, a total of 204 vehicles crossed the finishing line in Valparaíso, Chile, in the motorcycle, quad, car and truck categories – which equates to only about 47% of all of the vehicles that started. In the trucks category, 71 vehicles started from Rosario in Argentina. Of that number, 50 reached the finish line after an overall distance of about 9370 km, spread over 13 stages. The Kamaz Master team, formed 25 years ago, has dominated the event in the truck sector for many years and has won a total of twelve times since 1996.

The race crosses Russia, Kazakhstan and China, totalling almost 10,000 km split into 14 stages Turin, 6 July 2017 The Silk Way Rally 2017 will get underway with a ceremonial start in Moscow's Red Square on July 7, ending 15 days later in the city of Xi’an in China. Along the route competitors will complete 14 stages and cross three countries – Russia, Kazakhstan and China – on a route totalling 9,608 km. IVECO has joined forces once again with the PETRONAS De Rooy IVECO Team: three IVECO trucks – two Powerstars and one Trakker – will compete, backed up by their support team. After technical and administrative checks, the rally gets underway with the first three stages in the Republics that span the Volga and the Bashkortostan regions of Russia. The subsequent four days will be particularly intensive, against the backdrop of the extraordinary landscape of Kazakhstan's steppes. The first Chinese stage will be followed by a rest day – July 16 in Urumqi – that will open the Gobi Desert leg. This will mark the start of the toughest part of the competition: seven stages that will see participants navigate the Gobi Desert's dunes and treacherous tracks before finally reaching the legendary city of Xi’an.
