Descendants of George Michael ELLER American Generation No. 1 1. GEORGE MICHAEL2 ELLER (PAUL CASPER1)1 was born August 01, 1723 in The Palatinate, near Hamburg, Germany1, and died August 25, 1778 in Frederick, Maryland USA1. He married ANNA MARIA SCHNEIDER1. She was born in The Palatinate, Germany1, and died in Frederick, Maryland USA. Notes for GEORGE MICHAEL ELLER: [120198.ged] FROM ANGELINE ELLER'S BOOK and OTHER RESEARCH: Immigrant from The Palatinate, Germany arriving October 7, 1743 from Rotterdam on the ship "Phoenix". He took his oath of allegiance to the King of England September 30, 1743. He is recorded as being 20 years of age when arriving in the New World. He purchased land in Frederick County, Maryland on April 14, 1773. His will stated that there were nine children: Peter, Elizabeth, Leonard, Jacob, George, John, Eve, Maria and Catherine. His estate was settled by the executors, Henry Eller, his brother and Michael Gerber on October 26, 1779. His estate was worth 956 pounds, 15 shillings and 5 pence which was a great sum in those days. He left his wife, Anna Maria 50 pounds, son Peter 97 pounds, son Leonard and daughter Elizabeth 82 pounds each and the balance divided among the rest of his children in equal portions. He participated in the early parts of the German Migration which saw Germans enter America through the Port of Philadelphia into southeastern and south central Pennsylvania and then to Frederick County, Maryland, many finally settling into Southwestern Virginia and Northwestern North Carolina. FROM OTHER INFORMATION: George Michael traveled to America from his home in the Palatinate, Germany with four brothers according to historian Jim Eller and records that recorded travelers from Germany through England to America. All five brothers, being in their 20's, traveled from Rotterdam to England then on to America. George Michael arrived on the ship Phoenix in 1743 and is believed to be the fourth oldest.
