F2 skip faded away somewhat as the solar flux dropped down to the 130s. So, all in all, December has been mostly uneventful. But keep looking because anything can still happen. Dear neighbor, Plant Vogtle is committed to the relentless pursuit of safety. That includes the safety of our employees, facility, and most importantly, the safety and health of our neighbors. U. S. nuclear facilities are the most heavily regulated in the world, and at Southern Nuclear, we don’t just meet federal standards, we exceed them. As a neighbor of Plant Vogtle, it’s important that you are informed about our facility. u Please familiarize yourself with the contents of this calendar, which explain what to do in the unlikely event of an emergency at our plant. u The Special Needs Card in the back of the calendar is for you or anyone at your location who has a physical condition that would require special assistance in the event of an evacuation. Please complete and return the card to ensure proper assistance. u You may also view the 2018 Vogtle Emergency Information Calendar online at southernnuclear.com or by scanning the QR code below. u Pole-mounted sirens are installed throughout the 10-mile Emergency Planning Zone around Plant Vogtle. These sirens alert residents to listen to a local radio or television station (alert stations on page 2) for instructions in the unlikely event of an emergency. u The CodeRED Emergency Notification System may be utilized to contact residents by phone in the event of an emergency. It is also available as an app on your smartphone.

Let us hope that the month of January turns out better for DXers like Jeff Falconer and Bill Hepburn, both of whom got caught in that terrible ice storm before Christmas that ran from Maine to the midwest. Bill reported about 1.1” of ice covering everything and Jeff had about ¾” of ice on his APS-13. As far as we can tell, no equipment got totaled in that event, which was just plain rain in many areas to the south. We welcome Stephen Parker to the WTFDA. Stephen lives in London, ON and for all we know, he could be Robert Ross’ neighbor. It started back in you are probably still waiting. I’ll be writing off January when some really evil people hacked May as a complete loss. Waiting for a skip the Dreamhost servers. Soon after that signal on ch2 to peak up to an S3 on the Icom happened, various websites hosted by and then drop off the cliff isn’t my idea of a Dreamhost began to be infected by malware bang-up opening. But that’s the way it has introduced by the hackers.
