Nat. Croat. Vol. 27, No. 2, 407- 420*, 2018, Zagreb. In this paper, the plant lists of glasshouse succulents grown in the Botanical Garden from 1895 to 2017 are studied. Synonymy, nomenclature and origin of plant material were sorted. The lists of species grown in the last 122 years are constructed in such a way as to show that throughout that period at least 1423 taxa of succulent plants from 254 genera and 17 families inhabited the Garden’s cold glass- house collection. Ajuga Chocolate Chip Ajuga Retans ‘Chocolate Chip’
Ajuga Chocolate Chip Ajuga retans ‘Chocolate Chip’ Ajuga reptans, commonly called bugleweed, is a dense, rapidly spreading, mat-forming ground cover which features shiny, dark green leaves. Whorls of tiny, blue-violet flowers appear in mid to late spring on spikes rising above the foliage to 10". Cultivars of this species feature leaves with more interesting and varied foliage color. When in full flower, large clumps of bugleweed can produce a striking display. Dense foliage will choke out weeds. Mist Flower - Blue Conoclinium coelestinum An open shrub with slender branches that can reach six feet tall, fragrant mist flower explodes in the fall with masses of blue, fuzzy, very fragrant flowers that act as a magnet to hummingbirds, butterflies, and a plethora of other insects. The light green, triangular-shaped leaves are 1 to 3 inches long and have wavy edges. It is more tolerant of dry conditions than are most Eupatoriums, although it will tolerate poorly drained areas as well. It grows in partly shaded to mostly sunny sites, but will bloom more profusely with more sun. Fragrant mist flower makes a showy fall plant in the garden, or can be used massed as an understory or edge plant in more naturalized sites. Heavy shearing in the winter will promote a denser shape and more flowers the following year, since the long-lasting blooms appear only on new wood. Cat Whiskers White Orthosiphon stamineus The Cat Whiskers is a very showy plant that grows 3-4ft tall with bluish-white flowers that look like whiskers. The flowers of the Cat Whiskers are a lovely and are great to use as cut flowers. -

Apartado postal 63 91000 Xalapa, Veracruz RESUMEN Se presenta un listado revisado de algunas especies de plantas mexicanas silvestres consideradas como raras, amenazadas o en peligro de extinción, desglosadas por categoría UICN, tipo de vegetación y entidad federativa (estado); también por primera vez se incluye una relación de hongos amenazados. Se discute el papel de los jardines botánicos en la conservación de las mismas. Se realiza además un análisis numérico de las especies registradas por familia, categoría UICN y vegetación. ABSTRACT A revised list of some rare, threatened and endangered plant species of Mexico is presented. Listing is by IUCN category, vegetation type and state. A list of threatened fungi is included for the first time. The role of the botanic gardens in the conservation of these species is discussed. A numerical analysis of the reported species by family, IUCN category and vegetation is also presented. INTRODUCCION El primer listado de especies de plantas amenazadas para México (Vovides, 1981) así como la versión actualizada de la misma (Vovides, 1988) se compilaron por medio de encuestas enviadas a los taxónomos colaboradores. Las categorías de la Unión Internacional para la Conservación de la Naturaleza (UICN) (Anónimo, 1981) fueron asignadas subjetivamente según el criterio de los expertos, como una primera aproximación para evaluar la problemática de las especies en peligro. Estos listados son útiles tanto para los jardines botánicos como para las autoridades involucradas en la toma de decisiones para protegerlas. -

FLORA DEL BAJÍO Y DE REGIONES ADYACENTES Fascículo complementario XXVII agosto de 2011 LA DIVERSIDAD VEGETAL DEL ESTADO DE GUANAJUATO, MÉXICO Por Sergio Zamudio* Instituto de Ecología, A.C. RESUMEN Se hace una revisión de la riqueza de plantas vasculares que habitan en el estado de Guanajuato, México, tomando como referencia la base de datos del herbario IEB y la literatura especializada existente. Se registran 182 familias, 904 géneros y 2774 especies, incluyendo 41 variedades y 10 subespecies, por lo que la riqueza florística de Guanajuato se considera moderadamente alta, comparada con la de otros estados de México. Las Angiospermas o plantas con flores son las más abundantes en el estado y están representadas por 161 familias, 860 géneros y 2631 especies; le siguen las Pteridofitas con 17 familias, 38 géneros y 125 espe- cies y finalmente las Gimnospermas con 4 familias, 6 géneros y 18 especies. Se proporciona la lista de especies ordenada alfabéticamente por familias. * Trabajo realizado con apoyo económico del Instituto de Ecología, A.C. (cuenta 20006), del Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnología y de la Comisión Nacional para el Conocimiento y Uso de la Biodiversidad. 1 Dentro de las Angiospermas, las familias mejor representadas son Composi- tae con 119 géneros y 465 especies, Gramineae con 83 géneros y 250 especies y Leguminosae con 58 géneros y 188 especies. Entre los géneros más diversos destacan Euphorbia (45 spp.), Solanum (43 spp.), Salvia (42 spp.), Mammillaria (35 spp.), Muhlenbergia (34 spp.) y Eupatorium (33 spp.).
