    Montevideo, Abril de 2013 A las Afiliadas: De acuerdo a lo previsto en el Art. 14 literal a) y normas concordantes del Estatuto, el Directorio presenta a consideración de la Asamblea, la Memoria y Balance correspondientes al año 2012. El 2012 ha sido para el Comité Olímpico Uruguayo un año de intensa actividad, alcanzando su punto máximo con la celebración de los Juegos de la XXX Olimpíada celebrados en Londres. Nuestro país estuvo representado en los Juegos por 29 deportistas los cuales participaron en 8 deportes, destacándose la actuación del joven Alejandro Foglia (Vela), al obtener Diploma Olímpico por su 8º puesto en la competencia de Láser. A través del apoyo brindado por Solidaridad Olímpica Mundial, Solidaridad Olímpica Panamericana y la Fundación Deporte Uruguay, los deportistas, técnicos y especialistas de nuestras Federaciones Afiliadas se han visto beneficiadas con diversos programas y apoyos, destinados a mejorar su desarrollo técnico, deportivo y administrativo. Asimismo, a través del apoyo recibido por Solidaridad Olímpica, se participó en actividades vinculadas con la promoción en valores, asistiendo a Sesiones de la Academia Olímpica Internacional, desarrollando actividades en conmemoración al Día Olímpico y participando en la reunión de iniciación al Programa de Educación en Valores Olímpicos (PEVO) para América Latina. Se continuó trabajando de forma coordinada con el Organismo Gubernamental del Deporte, en temas generales y específicos vinculados a la actividad, en particular, en el marco de la Fundación “Deporte Uruguay”. Al igual que en años anteriores, el C.O.U. ha estado presente a través de representaciones y auspicios en numerosas actividades desarrolladas en el ámbito nacional.
