THE SPRING AND The West London Shooting School was founded in 1901 but it was 25 years ago that we developed and inspired the first SUMMER MONTHS” simulated game day. For over a decade we have been working closely with the Great Tew and Glympton Estates to build the very best of simulated clay shooting drives in the country. Our ‘Game Flyer Day’ blends the spirit of a day’s shooting in the country with the thrill and speed of clay pigeon shooting. Building on this success, WLSS now offer a variety of simulated days and shooting courses on both estates. These start on the 1st March and run up to the start of the game season – allowing game shooters to get the best tuition and practice available.

Located a little over an hour from London, the Great Tew Estate REAL THING” encapsulates much of what might be considered the archetypal English Country Estate. Rolling grassland, oak woods, with carpets of bluebells, and chocolate box thatch cottages. While the village is often described as one of the prettiest villages in England, Great Tew remains cloaked in its long history, from its Roman origins, through the Civil War to its ownership by one of the pre-eminent industrial revolution families. Today the estate presents a modern image of a diverse rural business with a contemporary approach.
This quintessential English estate, in the heart of the North Cotswold’s, offers an outstanding variety of drives. It has a renowned game shoot that lends itself naturally to offering the best simulated clay drives anywhere in the country. The estate is so passionate about the shooting legacy that several years ago, it built a line of eight stone grouse butts. No other shoot in the country provides these facilities.

Undoubtedly one of the top 50 shoots in the country, Glympton OF THE FINEST Estate is the perfect setting for a variety of thrilling and testing simulated drives in a truly unique setting. This very private SIMULATED estate has exciting terrain, located within the Oxfordshire countryside, which provides the opportunity to present some fantastic simulated partridge and pheasant drives. Situated just DRIVES” an hour from London, Glympton is a very accessible estate. With the option of dining in the cosy Heath Farm Lodge or the lavish Shoot Lodge, we can cater for all your needs.
The amazing Shoot Lodge can be booked for that extra special day. Complete with works of art, personal staff and fine wine to compliment the day. There can be few better places to meet and enjoy a day’s sport so close to London.

The ultimate simulated day with five drives run exactly like a real shoot, all at a fraction of the price. Including breakfast, refreshments in the field, a two course lunch and afternoon tea.
At Great Tew Estate you will shoot challenging high pheasants on Cottenham Bank, our unique and exhilarating grouse drive on Raven Hill Moor, and feel the electricity as you wait in anticipation for the competitive duck flush at Grove Ash Pond.
At Glympton Estate you will get your blood pumping on the thrilling pheasants and excellent fast partridge drives before finishing on an exciting and competitive rabbit flush.

The most challenging simulated shoot. The closest of its kind to London, and only taking you out of the office for half a day. It includes exhilarating coveys of partridges, fast and furious grouse and finishes with extremely high pheasant that any West Country shoot would be proud of.

Challenge yourself on a variety of simulated birds across five fast paced drives including an exhilarating competitive flush. An action packed morning broken up by refreshments in the field and finishing with a light lunch.

A great way for a team of guns to get properly warmed up before the 12th! Morning or afternoon tailored for a team of 8, 10 or 12 guns to get the finest instruction and practice. The course consists of three drives in our eight stone grouse butts. Includes either breakfast and lunch or lunch and afternoon tea in our Shoot Lodge.

Aimed at the seasoned grouse shot to sharpen and enhance their grouse shooting technique. You will experience two intensive simulated grouse drives and double gunning if required.

- 34 - IMPORTANT INFORMATION WHEN BOOKING PLACES TO STAY WEST LONDON SHOOTING SCHOOL Firstly, please confirm which Itinerary you would like. Itinerary’s are subject to alteration on the day due to the weather. We can host up to 18 guns for all itinerary’s by special request. Anyone from novices to Olympic champions are welcome but, The West London Shooting School requires all novices to be accompanied by an instructor (one instructor per two novices). Please confirm any requirements you have for instructors when booking. The price per instructor is £250 for the day + VAT. If, in the opinion of the WLSS shoot host, a guest is not able to shoot to a sufficient standard, they may be asked to stop shooting. Unfortunately The Red Lion Hotel Game Flyer days are NOT suitable for complete beginners, but Royal Lane, Hayes, London UB8 3QP can be a valuable learning opportunity following on from a 55 Rooms course of lessons to prepare you for a real day’s shooting.
Please note, guests wishing to have alcohol served at lunch must opt for the ‘shoot through’ Itinerary.
Gun Hire is available at the cost of £50 + VAT per gun per day. Cartridges are available to purchase on the day at very competitive rates. Hire of 4x4 vehicles can be arranged on request. Price confirmed at time of booking.
