FOREVER UNBRIDLED got guided onto the rail midway down the backstretch, narrowed the gap from the half mile pole to midpoint on the turn, lightly hand urged while at the task, was switched over to a rating hold when briefly caught behind DESERT VALLEY, that one being in her early stages of backing away as the field approached the five-sixteenths pole, managed to squeeze itself into the two path during the next sixteenth, remained momentariy on hold after entering the stretch then proceeded to get angled out five to six wide for better racing room, finished willingly, although no match for the top one. CARRUMBA settled into the two path after the start, idled behind a wall comprised of four opponents during the run around the bend, spun from between foes into the stretch, altered course onto the inside route, flattened out. CURALINA in a bit after losing her footing at the break, was corrected before significant contact was made with any other, set foot from the three path onto the turn, disputed the pace from between rivals making her way to the quarter pole, got set down for the drive home, had no late reesponse. SHEER DRAMA lunged as the field was sent off and running, sat forwardly placed in the four path, making her presence felt during the journey on the bend, had no rally once the stretch run began. STOPCHARGINGMARIA remained in the two path after the start, was asked for some run coming to the conclusion of the backstretch, left it and forced the issue from between rivals all the way to the five-sixteenths pole, then gave way. DESERT VALLEY was lightly bumped, getting knocked slightly sideways in the shadow of the starting gate, responded to some mild urging and grabbed the advantage, cut over to the rail, showed the way chased by a theesome of foes to the outside during the setting of the third split, was reeled in soon after going six furlongs and retreated. FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 6, 2019 TAKING STOCK: NEW ERA PLANNING TO BUILD NEW TRACK, CHURCHILL DOWNS WILL APPLY FOR TURFWAY DATES FOR PHIPPS STABLE by Bill Finley At Friday’s meeting of the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission, Churchill Downs will apply for the 2020 dates that had traditionally gone to Turfway Park. The story, which was broken by the Daily Racing Form’s Matt Hegarty, was later confirmed by Churchill Downs through a press release. Churchill’s plan is to build a new racetrack in Northern Kentucky that would likely replace Turfway. Churchill would race in the winter while the new facility is being built. The DRF said the new track could be ready to host some dates by 2021.
