During the early decades, the organization implemented the strategy of renewing and renovating old and used imported fryers from the United States of America. Then, it has expanded its operations and entered the highly competitive market. At that time they were 11 competitors in the Lebanese market. As the company began to develop, it has started importing limited amounts of new industrial culinary equipment and supplies such as fryers, refrigerators, freezers, stoves, microwaves, and ice makers and crushers from Europe. After that, it has expanded its importation circle to reach the United States of America where it made contracts with large manufacturers of industrial culinary equipment such as American Range. Collection Dates: [between 1890s and 1950s] Physical Description: A collection of approximately 890 photographs, from a period ranging between 1880 and 1950, and at various locations (Latin America, Lebanon, etc.) Photographs vary in formats (mostly cartes-de-visite and cabinet card, but also formal studio portraits, mounted or inserted into scrapbook-type albums or stored loose); included are albumen, black and white silver gelatin photos, etc. Sizes vary (34 x 29 cm or smaller). Photographers in Lebanon include Assad Dakouny, Habib Hawawini Photography, Studio Fakhoury, Photo Khatchadour, Assad K. Murhij Photographe, and Khalil Chahine Malouf. National sustainable energy strategy developed and its implementation promoted Executing Entity/Implementing Partner: Ministry of Energy and Water Implementing Entity/Responsible Partners: United Nations Development Programme Brief Description The project will catalyze the development of the small, decentralized, grid‐connected renewable energy (RE) power generation market in Lebanon. The target is to facilitate the installation of at least 1.75 MW of new decentralized RE power generation capacity during the lifetime of the project, resulting in direct GHG reduction benefits of approximately 35,500 tonnes of CO2eq. Complementary indirect mitigation benefits are expected from the sustained market growth of decentralized RE power generation investments after the project and from paving the way for larger RE power plants – for example, by clarifying the technical and institutional aspects of connecting RE‐based intermittent power generation sources into the grid and leveraging financing for RE investments from new sources such as carbon and climate financing. This indirect GHG reduction impact of the project has been estimated to range from 317,000 tonnes to over 1.7 million tonnes of CO2eq depending on the assumptions made.
