Field: Wildlife Conservation & Research Name: Centre for Desert and Ocean (CEDO) Location: Village Moti Virani, Kutch district, Gujarat, India Name of Position: Nature and Wildlife Intern (10) Brief Description of Organization: CEDO is a registered trust for wildlife conservation, research, bird tourism, nature education, and native plant afforestation working since 2005 in a rural area of the Kutch desert. The organization has a 10-room facility for use by bird watchers, students, and researchers. CEDO works in 40 villages of Kutch to provide nature education. More than 1,500 students from local schools participate CEDO’s one-day nature education camps each year. In addition, the organization houses a native flora nursery of 10,000 plants and plants the same number of plants in schools, villages and denuded areas of Kutch annually. Information Specific to the Internship: Nature and Wildlife Intern Qualifications: This internship opportunity is open to both undergraduate and graduate students. Primary Responsibilities: This internship is flexible based on the experience and interests of the applicant. CEDO is able to provide support and guidance for projects in wildlife, ecology, botany, and social work. Please contact CEDO directly to explore concrete project possibilities. Schedule: Summer internship opportunity of up to 8 weeks in duration. Stipend/Assistance: CEDO is able to provide the following support: An on-site, neat, clean, and self-contained room with 24-hour running water ($15/day). Three daily vegetarian meals ($10/day), plus mineral water for drinking. Transportation for research work. Pickup and drop-off from the Bhuj airport or railway station. Additional Information: Village Moti Virani is located 53 kilometers from Bhuj, the capital of Kutch district.
