BRIEF DESCRIPTION

Perched at 13,700 ft. above sea level Sar Pass, offers the magnificence of a beautiful verdant landscape against a curtain of majestic Himalayan peaks wrapped in snow, wearing a crown of clouds. In the local language of Himachal, Sar means a lake. While trekking across the path from Tila Lotni to Biskeri Ridge, one has to pass by a small, usually frozen lake and hence the name Sar Pass Trek. The Sar Pass trekking offers to experience the quaint villages and dark forest which makes it worthwhile to embark on. The trail passes through the thick forest and takes you to a winter wonderland that makes it fascinating. One can charm traditional houses in beautiful evenings and take pics of the locals near the camp. This trek is heaven for photographers, artists, and nature lovers.

ITINERARY

Day 01 – Pick up from Kasol and Trek to Grahan Village (4-5 Hours)

Your trek starts from Kasol town center by Grahan Nahal. The easy trail which is frequently used by locals will take you to through pine forests. In couple of hours you will be able to cover much of the distance as the trail is easy to climb. After reaching the Grahan Nahal, the trail becomes rocky and steep. The locals say that the Rhododendron petals can be eaten whole and the syrup can be mixed with water to make a refreshing drink. You can definitely try that when in the Himalayas! The steep climb of an hour will take you to your destination for the day. Reach Grahan Village by evening and freshen up. Have your dinner and stay overnight the camps.

Day 02 - Grahan Village to Min Thatch (4-5 Hours)

Have breakfast in the morning and start your trek towards the north of the camping ground at Grahan. You will bump into many locals on the way using the Min Thatch trail. After walking a little more, you will see the Min Thatch, Nagaru and Sar top on the mountains. The steeper trails will take you to the woods. Remember to stay with your group here as the trail becomes steeper and a bit confusing. Cross the lush green forest and reach Min Thatch. Admire the Chanderkhani stretch and many more ranges from the campsite at Min Thatch. Have your dinner and stay overnight at the camps.

Day 03 - Min Thatch to Nagaru (4-6 Hours)

Have your breakfast and trek through the pastoral forest covered with snow from Min Thatch to Nagaru. You will have to be careful on this trail as the steep slope and the snow will make the trek difficult here. After a difficult trek for 2 3 hours, you will finally reach the Nagaru campsite. Enjoy the mesmerising vistas of magnificent mountain across the Parvati valley. See the small glittering lights of the town as

Trekking Tours - 2021 the night sets in. It gets extremely chilly in the evening. It is advisable to sleep early to avoid catching cold next!

Day 04 - Nagaru to Biskeri Thatch via Sar Pass (6-8 Hours)

Rise and shine early morning to start your trek. Climb up through the snow trails and admire the dazzling peaks of Tosh Valley. The exhilarating view on the top of Sar Pass will leave you spellbound! Spend some time there and take in the beauty of the place. Slide down to the valley but take the necessary precautions. The sliding downhill is almost 1 KM! Walk for an hour and cross some magical water streams to reach the Biskeri Thatch campsite by evening. Take rest and have dinner. Stay overnight at the Biskeri Thatch campsite.

Day 05 - Biskeri Thatch to Barshaini and Droping at Kasol (2 Hours)

See the splendid views of lofty mountains and pine forests from Biskeri Thatch! Start trekking downhill through the dense forest, crossing a stream and then reach Pulga. The twin village Pulga and Tulga are separated by a stream. Cross the bridge on the Parvati River to reach the Barshaini Village. Your jeep will be waiting for you at Barshaini to drop you at Kasol.

COST OF THE TREK: Kasol to Kasol

1. Double sharing basis (2 persons sharing a tent & room) : INR 9,500/‐ per person 2. Single sharing basis (1 person to a tent & room) : INR 12,500/‐ per person

TREK COST INCLUDES:

1. Transport from & back to Kasol as per the itinerary.

2. 2 guides for the group of maximum 15 trekkers so 1 guide for 8 group members. This will ensure high safety and more information and personal attention which are necessary to appreciate a trek. All our guides are professionally trained and have many years of relevant experience in guiding treks.

3. High quality Camping arrangements We believe that roughing it out necessarily doesn’t mean sleeping in smelly sleeping bags, compromising on safety by using low quality equipment and having unappetizing meals. We focus on your safety, basic comforts and the environment while camping. Keeping this is mind, the following equipment is provided on the trek: - 3/4 season imported alpine tents - Fresh and clean sleeping bags of very good quality - Good quality Camping Mattresses - Camping stools - Mess Tent - Toilet tents (2) with portable toilet seats - First Aid / Medical kit.

4. All meals starting from dinner on Day 1 till lunch on Day 5. A lot of emphasis is given to nutritional needs and a menu of vegetarian dishes is prepared accordingly. Tea/coffee will be served throughout.

Season for this trek is from May to mid‐June . In the early days of the season we will catch a lot of snow on the high passes which reduces considerably by August. As the season proceeds we might catch rain towards Kullu valley Days are generally going to be sunny and warm (12‐20 °C) while the night temperature at the highest campsite would be in the range of ‐2 to 6 °C.

Mountain/adventure travel requires one to be adequately equipped with the right kind of personal gear. Since one is travelling in the wilderness there will be hardly any opportunity to buy anything once you hit the trail so we urge you to carefully pack everything into your bags.

- Full Sleeves Shirts / T‐shirts, Track Suit / Trekking Pants - Windproof jacket of decent quality preferably with a hood, Raincoat / Poncho - Fleece Jacket, Thermal inner wear (upper & lower). - Woollen cap/ gloves/socks & regular socks (3‐4 pairs)/skullcap. - Comfortable Trekking/Hiking shoes. - Water bottle (sturdy ones, no empty Bisleri bottles!!) - Sun glasses, Trekking pole, Lip Balm, Personal toiletries. - Sunscreen Lotion, Torch / Flashlight. - Medicines, if requiring any specific medication. - Day pack, Carry rain cover for your bags. Only Rucksacks/Backpacks allowed. Avoid suitcases, trolleys or any other hard luggage. Please avoid carrying expensive watches, jewellery and electronic items on the trek.

NOTE: - In case you are planning to put your bag on a mule or taking a porter please get a duffel bag or rucksack and keep it in mind that there is a possibility that the bag at times might brush against a rock or a tree and get slightly damaged so don't get very expensive bags. Also in case of damage we shall not be held accountable. -We are not responsible for any mishappening, due to weather conditions, natural disaster, any kind of accident, etc. -This will be a flexible tour which depends on the live weather conditions so trust us we will provide the best in the worst case. -Charges and trip plans could vary during bad weather conditions or if the tour is extended due to weather or some other mishappening. -A proper schedule with timings will be conveyed to you at the time of briefing. Acclimatization basically means our body adjusting to lower levels of oxygen (rarefied air) & reduced air pressure as me move up. In case one does not acclimatize properly there are chances of the person facing extreme discomfort and this can be fatal in extreme cases. While there is no set route to getting properly acclimatized there are a general precautions and steps that one can take to initiate good acclimatization. Our trekking guides will assist you on this.
