Map Features: Comment text: I feel the proposal to change the name of the Aveland Ward to Fenside Ward to be inappropriate and ill-conceived. The Aveland ward has been centred on the River Ave for decades and renaming it serves no purpose over than to allude to its proximity to the Fens and when one considers the Fens cover four counties (Norfolk, Cambs, Lincs and Suffolk), the name Fenside has no distinct local association with the area covered by the ward. When one also considers the fact that half the ward lies on the high ground to the west of the Fens where the source of the River Ave rises, the inappropriateness of the name change is even more profound. To keep the name of the ward unchanged would result in it remaining associated with a name that has been recognised locally for centuries and therefore should remain unchanged. https://consultation.lgbce.org.uk//node/print/informed-representation/2584 22/11/2013 Local Government Boundary Commission for England Consultation Portal Page 2 of 2 https://consultation.lgbce.org.uk//node/print/informed-representation/2584 22/11/2013 Local Government Boundary Commission for England Consultation Portal Page 1 of 2 South Kesteven District Personal Details: Name: Brynley Heaven E-mail: Postcode: Parish Council [personal Organisation Name: capacity] Contains Ordnance Survey data © Crown copyright and database rights 2013. Map Features: Comment text: No problem with proposed boundaries, but big problem with proposed name for the Rippingale-Aslackby-Pointon-Haconby ward. Call it Aveland, a fine historically based Wapentake name. Of the above-named villages only Haconby and Pointon could be described as Fen Edge (which is just about dignified) but Fenside? Not on your Nelly. https://consultation.lgbce.org.uk//node/print/informed-representation/2586 22/11/2013 Local Government Boundary Commission for England Consultation Portal Page 2 of 2 https://consultation.lgbce.org.uk//node/print/informed-representation/2586 22/11/2013 Local Government Boundary Commission for England Consultation Portal Page 1 of 2 South Kesteven District Personal Details: Name: Peter Neumann E-mail: Postcode: Organisation Name: Contains Ordnance Survey data © Crown copyright and database rights 2013. Map Features: Comment text: My comment concerns the name Fenside for the Rippingale, Dowsby, Dunsby etc ward. Fenside could be anyway in the country - for example there is a Fenside ward not far away in Boston. One historical name associated with the area is Ringstone. The now demolished Ringstone Hall was almost in the centre of the ward close to the present day Ringstone Hill one of the few natural landmarks in the ward. It also ties in quite nicely with the neighbouring Castle ward, named after Grimsthorpe castle, as Ringstone Hall was at one time home of the Heathcote family , ancestors of the present resident of Grimsthorpe, Jane Willoughby. It really is better to give the Ward the name Ringstone which identifies with it's place rather than Fenside which could be anywhere between Huntingdon and Lincoln. https://consultation.lgbce.org.uk//node/print/informed-representation/2619 22/11/2013 Local Government Boundary Commission for England Consultation Portal Page 2 of 2 https://consultation.lgbce.org.uk//node/print/informed-representation/2619 22/11/2013 Local Government Boundary Commission for England Consultation Portal South Kesteven District Personal Details: Name: J Silvester E-mail: Postcode: Organisation Name: Contains Ordnance Survey data © Crown copyright and database rights 2013. The area definition is fine in principal as long as the council feels it can successfully represent this larger ward in resource terms and represent it adequately compared with smaller wards. I understand that the voting numbers may be balanced between the wards and hence the proposed changes but complexed issues with a larger land take do not necessarily warrant equal representation based on voting numbers alone. https://consultation.lgbce.org.uk//node/print/informed-representation/2785[07/01/2014 13:53:56] Local Government Boundary Commission for England Consultation Portal Page 1 of 2 South Kesteven District Personal Details: Name: J Templeman E-mail: Postcode: Organisation Name: Contains Ordnance Survey data © Crown copyright and database rights 2013. The name Fenside Ward is inappropriate. https://consultation.lgbce.org.uk//node/print/informed-representation/2585 22/11/2013 Local Government Boundary Commission for England Consultation Portal Page 2 of 2 https://consultation.lgbce.org.uk//node/print/informed-representation/2585 22/11/2013.
