Source: https://georgetownwaterfrontpark.org.......................................................................3.25 List of Appendices – Site Plans ......................................................................................A.1 – Stormwater Management Concept Report .................................B.2 – Tree Replacement Memo .............................................................C.3 – Wayfinding Signage .....................................................................D.4 ii KENNEDY CENTER PEDESTRIAN/BICYCLE TRAIL ACCESS AND SAFETY IMPROVEMENTS, AND REHABILITATION OF ROCK CREEK AND POTOMAC PARKWAY (ROUTE 16) Project Overview March 1, 2019 1.0 Project Overview The National Park Service (NPS), in partnership with the Federal Highway Administration—Eastern Federal Lands Highway Division, is planning to implement shared-use trail, roadway, and site improvements, including a pedestrian tunnel, roadway resurfacing, median repairs, lighting, signal reconstruction, signing and marking, ADA and crosswalk upgrades, landscaping, wayfinding signage, amenities, and other improvements on NPS lands along Rock Creek Park Multi-Use trail, the Potomac River waterfront, and Rock Creek & Potomac Parkway NW from Virginia Ave NW to the Old Constitution Ave NW turn- around (the Belvedere) and along Ohio Drive SW from the Ericsson Memorial to the Tidal Basin Inlet Bridge. The purpose of the project is to improve pedestrian and Figure 1 - Project Area bicycle safety, access, and connectivity to and from the Kennedy Center from surrounding destinations such as Georgetown, Foggy-Bottom metro, National Mall and Memorials, and the Teddy Roosevelt Memorial Bridge to Arlington, VA. A significant body of work has been prepared previously studying the opportunities and challenges associated with providing pedestrian and bicycle access to the Kennedy Center.
