As we will show, these two seemingly unrelated upheavals are very closely tied together, and are but the latest and most profound manifesta- tions of a global revolutionary transfor- mation that has been under way for many years. Both of these revolutions are being stoked and orchestrated by elitist forces that intend to unmake the United States of America and extinguish liberty as we know it everywhere. In his famous “Lectures on the French Revolution,” delivered at Cambridge University between 1895 and 1899, the distinguished British historian and states- man John Emerich Dalberg, more com- monly known as Lord Acton, noted: “The appalling thing in the French Revolution is not the tumult, but the design. Travel Weekly Secaucus, New Jersey 29 October 2019
Travel Weekly Secaucus, New Jersey 29 October 2019 Latest Cuba restrictions force tour operators to adjust By Robert Silk A tour group in Havana. Photo Credit: Action Sports/Shutterstock The Trump administrations decision to ban commercial flights from the U.S. to Cub an destinations other than Havana could cause complications for tour operators. However, where needed, operators will have the option to use charter flights as an alternative. The latest restrictions, which take effect during the second week of December, will put an end to daily American Airlines flights from Miami to the Cuban cities of Camaguey, Hoguin, Santa Clara, Santiago and Varadero. JetBlue will end flights from Fort Lauderdale to Camaguey, Holguin and Santa Clara. In a letter requesting the Department of Transportation to issue the new rules, secretary of state Mike Pompeo wrote that the purpose of restrictions is to strengthen the economic consequences of the Cuban governments "ongoing repression of the Cuban people and its support for Nicholas Maduro in Venezuela." The restrictions dont directly affect all Cuba tour operators. For example, Cuba Candela flies its clients in and out of Havana only, said CEO Chad Olin. But the new rules will force sister tour operators InsightCuba and Friendly Planet to make adjustments, said InsightCuba president Tom Popper. In the past few months, he explained, Friendly Planet’s "Captivating Cuba" tour and InsightCubas "Classic Cuba" tour began departing Cuba from the north central city of Santa Clara. Now those itineraries will go back to using departure flights from Havana. As a result, guests will leave Cienfuegos on the last day of the tour to head back to Havana for the return flight. -
Protocol for Direct Assistance for the Capital Gazette Families Fund
Protocol for Direct Assistance for the Capital Gazette Families Fund BACKGROUND On June 28, 2018 a gunman forced his way into the Capital Gazette newsroom in Annapolis with a shotgun killing five people and injuring two others. Officers responded to the scene within a minute of the rampage and found employees fleeing from the building. The suspect was found hiding under a desk and was arrested. The Annapolis community was shocked and heartbroken. Grieving colleagues began covering the story — some of them immediately upon escaping the building. The following morning, the Community Foundation of Anne Arundel County (CFAAC) was contacted by the Baltimore Sun Media Group and asked to administer the funds that were being donated to support the victims and their families. The Capital Gazette Families Fund (Fund) was established in coordination with tronc, Inc., to honor the lives of the five employees that were killed during the tragic shooting. While we know financial gifts cannot erase the traumatic impacts of tragedy, we hope that these gifts, given by thousands of people from around the world, will be a symbol of caring and help the employees and their families begin to heal. Through this fund we cannot solve all of the problems arising from this event, we cannot bring back those who were killed, nor erase that which was witnessed and endured by the survivors. The gifts made from this Fund are qualitatively different from other sources of tragedy relief. These gifts are not based on any economic loss or expenses incurred as a result of the incident. Additional assistance may be provided by the Maryland Criminal Injuries Compensation Board and other sources. -

Opening Statement Tuesday, January 29, 2019
Remarks as prepared for delivery by The Honorable Dan Coats Director of National Intelligence Annual Threat Assessment Opening Statement Tuesday, January 29, 2019 Chairman Burr, Vice-Chairman Warner, and Members of the Committee... I am here today, along with leaders of the Intelligence Community, to provide you an overview of the national security threats facing our nation. But before I do, I would like to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of the men and women that make up the Intelligence Community. Their efforts rarely receive public recognition because of the nature of the work that they do. But their unheralded contributions play a critical role in the national security of our great nation, and I am proud to represent them. 1 Annual Threat Assessment, January 29, 2019 I also want to express on behalf of the entire IC our appreciation to the members of this committee. The Intelligence Community appreciates your support and values our partnership. [PAUSE] My goal today is to responsibly convey to you and the American people, in this unclassified hearing, the true nature of the threat environment without overstating some of the more significant challenges we currently face and expect to contend with in the coming year… In the interest of time, I also would refer you to my Statement for the Record for a more complete threat picture. As I stated in my recent remarks during the release of the National Intelligence Strategy, we face significant changes in the domestic and global 2 Annual Threat Assessment, January 29, 2019 environment that have resulted in an increasingly complex and uncertain world, and we must be ready to meet 21st century challenges and recognize emerging threats. -
