Mission Statement

Rocky Vista University provides quality healthcare education while inspiring students to serve with compassion, integrity, and excellence.

Class of 2020 Commencement Friday, First of May, Two-Thousand Twenty Letter from the President

To Rocky Vista University’s Class of 2020,

This year’s Commencement is dedicated to our students and faculty as they played, and continue to play, a significant role in the COVID-19 Pandemic. Not since 1918 has our Country’s medical professionals been challenged by such a far-reaching pandemic. It challenges us, as a graduate healthcare University, to insist on the most advanced educational technologies and curricular emphasis, while never forgetting our commitment to the healing power and the importance of body, mind, and spirit.

We are proud of the stellar performance and eagerness of the Class of 2020 to launch into the next phase of medical education. You came to RVU with a sense of purpose, a desire to make a difference, and today, I remind you that your journey is never complete. The faculty and staff have provided you with the tools for success and wish you every joy and happiness a life of service can bring.

Today is a day of gratitude: gratitude to your family, friends, and faculty—all of whom share in your pride and accomplishment.

To our medical school graduates, the people that are not here are your future patients, the individuals and families you will be privileged to touch. The “DO Touch” encompasses compassion, caring, and expertise in your chosen specialty. Every day, we hear tragic sto- ries of families devastated by not being with their loved ones at their hour of need; this sorrow will reside in their hearts and minds forever. It is for these families that you are becoming a physician today.

To our fourth MSBS class, thank you for the trust you have placed in us. You have worked hard to be one step closer to achieving your professional goal and I know you will go on to do great things.

I am proud of each and every one of you—now your challenge is to make RVU proud of you!

Warmest regards,

Clinton E. Adams, DO, FACHE President and CEO, Rocky Vista University The Osteopathic Oath

I do hereby affirm my loyalty to the profession I am about to enter. I will be mindful always of my great responsibility to preserve the health and the life of my patients, to retain their confidence and respect both as a physician and a friend who will guard their secrets with scrupulous honor and fidelity, to perform faithfully my professional duties, to employ only those recognized methods of treatment consistent with good judgment and with my skill and ability, keeping in mind always nature’s laws and the body’s inherent capacity for recovery.

I will be ever vigilant in aiding in the general welfare of the community, sustaining its laws and institutions, not engaging in those practices which will in any way bring shame or discredit upon myself or my profession. I will give no drugs for nefarious purposes to any person, though it may be asked of me.

I will endeavor to work in accord with my colleagues in a spirit of progressive cooperation and never by word or by act cast imputations upon them or their rightful practices.

I will look with respect and esteem upon all those who have taught me my art. To my college and my profession, I will be loyal and strive always for its best interests and for the interests of the students who will come after me. I will be ever alert to further the application of basic biologic truths to the healing arts and to develop the principles of osteopathic medicine which were first enunciated by Andrew Taylor Still. “Every single member of our Class has something that makes them completely special and unique. We are made up of artists, athletes, dreamers, adventurers, parents, musicians, free spirits, strong leaders, and truly some of the funniest people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. We will be a wave of compassionate physicians who are not afraid to lend a soothing touch to our patients and to rock the boat to fight for what we believe in. I am incredibly proud to know you all and do not have a shred of doubt in my mind that we will do great things for our patients and medicine as a whole.” - Ria Joseph, Class of 2020 Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences Class of 2020 Rachel Elizabeth Abercrombie Erin Magdalena Herbstova Florida State University Middle Tennessee State University Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences Bachelor of Science in Biology and Psychology Moody Copper Labast Inabangan Logan Charles Anderson Logan University Morningside College Bachelor of Science in Human Biology Bachelor of Science in Biology and Chemistry Scarlett Kass Mitchell Jay Ballard University of South Carolina Columbia Metropolitan State University of Denver Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science Bachelor of Science in Biology Harry Edward Kranichfeld Elinor Russo Barsh University of Colorado Boulder University of Colorado Boulder Bachelor of Arts in Ecology and Bachelor of Arts in Neuroscience and Psychology Evolutionary Biology Donald James Borchert, MS Brycen Matthew Lauer University of Colorado Boulder University of Arizona Master of Science in Integrative Physiology Bachelor of Science in Microbiology Vladimir Cardenas Colmenares Christina Marie Virginia Looby * Indiana University - Purdue University Northwestern University Bachelor of Arts in Biology Bachelor of Arts in Biological Sciences and Psychology Camille Rose Crane, MS * University of Colorado Boulder Matthew Morelli Master of Science in Integrative Physiology Colorado State University Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences Stephanie Grace Gedney * University of Colorado Denver Joseph Louis Noble Bachelor of Science in Bioengineering Xavier University Bachelor of Science in Adrianna Lynne Hammack * Health Services Administration University of Colorado Boulder Bachelor of Arts in Theater Arts Nitya Nunna Nova Southeastern University Brian Carter Hartman Bachelor of Science in Biology Chapman University Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry Anjali Patel and Molecular Biology University of Southern Indiana Bachelor of Science in Biology Isaac William Hartman University of Denver Bachelor of Science in Art and Biochemistry Sagar Patel Kristen Elizabeth Valente Indiana University Bloomington University of Colorado Boulder Bachelor of Science in Psychology Bachelor of Arts in Neuroscience and and Neuroscience Integrative Physiology Sofia Rahmanzai Reena Xyza Villariz University of Nebraska Omaha Saint Mary’s University Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology Bachelor of Science in Biology Nicholas Slaboden Morgen Fay Weatherly University of Cincinnati Colorado State University Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry Devin Audrey Thomas Austin George White University of California San Diego Arizona State University Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry Taylor Noreen Tischhauser Metropolitan State University of Denver Bachelor of Science in Biology
