Deliciously fun week-long camps for kids at Patricia’s Table

At Patricia’s Table, we empower kids to expand their minds and taste buds while whipping up batches of fun in the kitchen. Our hands-on cooking classes combine culinary tech- niques, locally-grown foods, and fresh flavors as we create sweet and savory treats from scratch. We cook with children for a number of reasons. Cook- ing with your child creates the opportunity to teach kids where food comes from and to make a healthy connection with food. We have seen that kids are more likely to be adventurous eaters when they are involved in the process. Additionally, cooking is a life skill that provides opportunities to explore other cultures. Our hope is to honor kids’ intelligence during our classes and camps, and encourage them in becoming confident, creative chefs. Patricia’s Table offers summer camps, classes and work- shops and birthday parties for kids, as well as classes and pri- vate events for adults.

Badgerdog Creative Writ- ing Summer Camp offers a fun and immersive writing expe- rience for kids and teens. The workshops are led by profes- sional writers and explore the arts of poetry, fiction, nonfic- tion, and playwriting. Lessons are creative, surprising, and engaging, and introduce camp- ers to the techniques writers use to make their ideas speak clear- ly and powerfully on the page. Campers not only grow their confidence as writers, but also enjoy the freedom to explore ideas that matter to them, no matter how wild and unusual. Badgerdog’s small class size (15 maximum) allow campers to receive individual- ized attention from a Badgerdog Teaching Artist and make con- nections with other young writ- ers in the group. All campers experience the full range of the writing process—from brain- storming to drafting to revision, editing, and publication. Campers learn the arts of poetry and fi ction from professional writers in a fun & creative environment.

Each summer, Badgerdog enlists Austin’s most talented writers and teaching artists to lead three-week creative writing workshops across the Capitol City. These workshops allow rising 3rd- through 12th- graders to work with a mentor as they explore, experiment, imagine, and create new written works. Campers will fi ll pages of their notebooks with original poetry and prose, encounter the work of classic and contemporary writers, and experience each stage of the writing process—from idea generation to editing to publication. Workshops are limited to 15 students, and campers are grouped according to age. The $475 registration fee includes a writing journal, a Badgerdog T-shirt, and a copy of the camp anthology.
