This growing global issue transcends age, gender and ethnicities. It includes victims trafficked from overseas and vulnerable people in the UK who are forced illegally to work against their will across many different sectors such as agriculture, hospitality, construction, retail and manufacturing. Modern slavery and its components of forced labour and human trafficking are a growing concern around the world. Ensuring that internationally proclaimed human rights, as specified in the International Bill of Human Rights, are respected across our business and by our suppliers is an important priority for Aston Martin Lagonda. The Modern Slavery Act 2015 requires commercial organisations supplying goods or services with a turnover above £36 million to prepare and publish an annual ‘Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement’. • Never Mind the Quattro
NEVER MIND THE QUATTRO By Peter Arcadipane For todays emasculated Eighties, the Audi Quattro is one of the few shining stars on the 4WD performance horizon. Indeed, with its turbo motor, advanced 4WD chassis, and stunning good looks, it has made everybody rethink their position in this lucrative section of the marketplace. But, like the old saying “there is nothing new under the sun”, more often than not it stands true. Yet over ten years ago a prototype 4WD coupe was shown to the British public. It was a marvel of machinery – a veritable Pandora’s Box of Tricks. Yet it faded into obscurity before it had a chance to light any fires …. In 1972 an unusual four-seater two door coupe with 600 bhp was first shown at the London Motor Show, in October. Sitting on the IBCAM stand the car, later known as the FFF100, didn’t really attract the sort of attention it deserved. Possibly the unexciting matt-white finish failed to sparkle enough to complete with all the lovely bosomy ladies. In those days the motor shows often were used as a forum to ceremoniously unveil secret new models from the British Motor Industry to an expectant public. The FFF100, or GKN Special, had been designed and built to test the durability and ultimate performance of the specialist components. The sleek coupe ran goodies like the Ferguson patented four-wheel-drive, and the Maxaret braking systems. The exercise was a public relations masterpiece to show the motoring world that GKN were much more than nuts and bolts.

I came upon the marque in my general course of business in the motor trade and have become as enthusiastic as my customers about Aston Martin and their products. My son Matthew and I with my first Aston Martin There is an aura about Aston Martin, a heritage far beyond simple statistics. Winning at Le Mans, victory in the World Sportscar Championship, the Zagatos and Royal patronage would be enough for any car manufacturer. Aston Martin goes beyond that – every car has its character and every owner, real pride in his or her car. Any market place has pitfalls for the unwary and opportunities for the unscrupulous. What I have tried to produce is an overview of Aston Martin cars that can act as an introduction to the marque.

13/11/2020 ASTON MARTIN LAGONDA ASTON MARTIN WHO? LAGONDA Aston Marn are a Brish instuon. They're as English as steak & kidney pie, as children dancing around a maypole with gaily coloured ribbons. And, on occasion, just as eccentric. The company was actually formed as Bamford & Marn back in 1912, selling Singer cars from their mews premises in London, before deciding to build their own the following year. The 'Aston' part of the name comes from the fact that Marn raced Specials at Aston Hill at the me, and felt it would help them promote what they were looking to achieve. It wasn't unl 1915 that they produced their first car, although it all stopped before it had ever really started, due to the outbreak of WW1. The most famous period of the company's turbulent history came in 1947, when the company was acquired by David Brown, of David Brown Tractor fame, along with the ailing Lagonda brand. This would lead to the company's DB series, starng with the DB2 Le Mans Prototype in 1950, before the DB2/4 in 1953. This, of course, led to the company's best known car of all me, and the reason for their fame and success all these years later-the 1963 DB5, bestowed with ejector seat and machine guns for 007 in the 1964 film, Goldfinger. Aston Marn has been a staple of the hyper-successful film series ever since, which has propelled it to being once of the coolest car brands on the planet, who's sports coupes have been owned by everyone from Jay Leno to Jason Statham.
