Tutoring of Diploma, MSc and PhD theses

Dr Sapountzaki has tutored a large number of diploma theses, under- and post-graduate, and has been member of several evaluation committees for PhD theses at Harokopio and other Greek Universities (e.g. the National Technical University of Athens, University of Piraeus etc).

5.1 TEACHING AND LECTURES IN OTHER EUROPEAN UNIVERSITIES

 In the academic year 2009-2010, in the context of ERASMUS MOBILITY FOR TEACHING ASSIGNMENT UNDER THE LIFELONG LEARNING PROGRAMME, Dr Sapountzaki was invited by the Technical University of Dortmund, School of Spatial Planning (Germany) to offer three lectures at both undergraduate and post-graduate levels, as follows:  "Cross-border Territorial and Environmental Planning issues in the Balkan Region", in the context of the undergraduate module Planning in Urban and Metropolitan Regions.  "Risks in the agenda of Spatial Planning: Examples from Developed and Developing Countries", in the context of the international biennial post-graduate (MSc) Programme SPRING (Spatial Planning for Regions in Growing Economies).  "Spatial Planning in ", in the context of the undergraduate module Spatial Planning from an International Perspective.

 In the spring semester of the academic year 2015-2016 in the framework of EU ERASMUS Programme, Professor Sapountzaki was invited by the University of Valencia, Dept of Geography to offer lectures at both the under- and post-graduate level. In particular: - At the under-graduate level she offered two lectures to the students of the ‘Geography and Environment Degree’, more in concrete in the framework of the subject ‘Methodologies for Spatial Planning’ - At the post-graduate level she offered lectures for the students of the ‘Master on Techniques for Management of Environment and Territory’. - She offered a lecture / discussion on the topic ‘Environmental Risks’; this was addressed to the Department of Geography academic teachers and researchers, as well as interested students (all degrees)

She has been member of the tripartite evaluation committee of a PhD thesis of the University of Dortmund (School of Spatial Planning) under the title “Embedding Risk Governance Principles in Assessment and Management of Natural Hazards”.

Before her election as an academic at Harokopio University, Dr Sapountzaki as a founding member of the Research Laboratory for Spatial Planning and Urban Development of the Department of Urban and Regional Planning at NTUA (that was created in 1985 under the directorship of L. 10. ADMINISTRATIVE WORK

In the period 2013-2016 Prof Dr Sapountzaki has been the Director of the post-graduate Programme of the Geography Dept of Harokopio University “Applied Geography and Spatial Planning”. Besides, she participated in and contributed to the organization of several activities and events of the Department of Geography at Harokopio University (e.g. organization of one- day colloquiums and international congresses, planning and running of post-graduate courses, reform of the undergraduate programme of studies, coordination of the Committee for undergraduate studies, organization of field trips etc).

 Employment in a company for technical studies and consultancy during her undergraduate studies in the School of Architecture (NTUA).  Member of the Technical Company “G.A.
