To most people in Buckingham, Bernie Marsden is synonymous with Whitesnake, the hard rock band he joined in 1978, playing on eight albums, from Snakebite to Saints and Sinners. He wrote or co-wrote many of the group’s hit songs, such as Here I Go Again. Following his departure from Whitesnake, he formed a new band which later became Bernie Marsden’s Alaska, which released two rock albums, Heart of the Storm and The Pack. More recently, he has been involved in some unusual projects, notably two engagements at the National Theatre for Nickolas Hytner’s productions of Shakespeare’s The Winter’s Tale and Henry V. In 2012, he performed at the premier of Rock of Ages, starring Tom Cruise and featuring the Whitesnake hit ‘Here I Go again on my Own.’ He has also produced a blues documentary, A Day in the Delta. Bernie Marsden’s new album, ‘Shine’ was released in August 2014, reaching the number 1 spot on the iTunes blues chart.

    Lemmy Kilmister was born in Stoke-on-Trent. Having been a member of the Rocking Vicars, Opal Butterflies and Hawkwind, Lemmy formed his own band, Motörhead. That impression is further enhanced by the fact that their lead guitarist I vocalist goes under the stage name of Steve Zodiac - anyone remember the mid - sixties puppet show cult 'Fireball XL5'? This power - trio, however, don't confine their music to the fantasy end of HM, being quite capable of rendering hard rock numbers of a suitably mean vein. Wakefield - based, Vardis were formed at the end of 1977, with the Current line - up of Zodiac, Alan Selway (bass) and Gary Pearson r (drums) coming together about eight months ago. Their first gig experiences were in workingmen's clubs, before they graduated to playing major northern club dates. The band made their vinyl debut last year on Redball Records with the EP '100 MPH', which quickly sold out its limited pressing of 2000 Thls record Is now a genuine collectors' Item with copies changing hands for considerable sums. They are now considering releasing '100 MPH' for their own Castle Records label, due to public demand. Their follow-up single 'If I Were King' has Just been put out on Castle Records, and this has almost sold 2000 (just on orders alone. Vardis are presently doing a promotional UK lour for the single. although, to date no London gigs have been finalised.
