BBC CHILDREN IN NEED: THE BEST BITS Saturday, November 17, BBC One Wales, 5.30pm .co.uk/pudsey

Welsh television personality Gethin Jones will look back at the best bits of this year’s BBC Children in Need appeal in Wales, with a highlights programme on BBC One Wales.

Highlights include a performance from Tonypandy’s own West End star Sophie Evans, who will sing with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales. Sophie will perform songs including Over the Rainbow from The Wizard of Oz and Good Morning Baltimore from the musical Hairspray.

The Orchestra and Sophie Evans will be joined by Côr Ieuenctid Môn (Anglesey Youth Choir), and a choir of school children from Cardiff and Tonypandy - who will link up with choirs from around the UK for a special performance.

Also featured will be BBC Wales Today presenter Jamie Owen, who will rise to the challenge of playing the piano alongside BBC National Orchestra of Wales.

Throughout the programme, Welsh performers Wynne Evans, Chris Corcoran and Sophie Evans will be amongst those showing how money donated helps make a difference to the lives of disadvantaged children and young people across Wales.

WE BEAT THE ALL BLACKS Monday, November 19, BBC One Wales, 10.35pm

As Wales once again try to beat the All Blacks later this week - and if they do, it will be the first time in nearly 60 years - BBC Wales takes an emotional journey back in time to a special day in rugby history, the last time a Welsh side beat the All Blacks.

Tuesday, October 31st, 1972 is etched into the collective memories of all Welsh rugby supporters - a day when the town of Llanelli was brought to a standstill and, as few will need to be reminded, it was the day Llanelli beat New Zealand by nine points to three.

In this special BBC Wales documentary, players and fans gather to celebrate the Scarlets’ epic victory, sharing memories, highlighting the pride and passion of the town in its rugby, and showing how one day helped to shape its identity.

Forty years on, the memories are undimmed, the joy still overflows and the tall tales just get taller…

GOWER Tuesday, November 20, BBC Two Wales, 7.30pm

The wild beaches of the Gower peninsula are a magnet for over three million tourists a year. Only minutes from the industry of Swansea and Port Talbot, Gower is still a secret and private place the locals like to keep to themselves. This brand new series witnesses a year in the life of Gower and some of the people whose families have been there for generations.

This week, the Gower Society goes on a surveillance mission - taking aerial photos of the caravan sites and local businesses to make sure they haven’t made any changes without permission. Understandably, this doesn’t go down well with some of the locals. Most Gower farmers have had to diversify to survive and Rob Morgan’s sheep have been replaced by trees and reindeer.

Local surfing hero PJ looks back over the accident that nearly killed him, a caravan arriving at its site causes chaos in the village and father and son butchers Paul and Phillip Tucker are talking at cross purposes.
