Transportation from International Airport: FROM MILAN’S AIRPORTS TO STRESA Stresa is 45 km from Milan Malpensa (MXP), 110 km from Milan Linate (LIN) and 130 km from Milan Bergamo (BGY). (CLICK ON THE TITLES TO GET ADDITIONAL INFORMATION) FROM MILAN MALPENSA TO STRESA By car Follow the signs for the A26 Genoa - Gravellona Toce motorway. Take the A26 motorway in the direction of Gravellona Toce. Keep heading towards Gravellona Toce until the Carpugnino exit. At Carpugnino follow the signs for Stresa. · By taxi The price varies according to the day and time. · By bus From April to September take the Alibus shuttle for Stresa. The service has a timetable (6 journeys a day), but you need to book the day before. · By train Stresa is situated on the line Milan-Domodossola. Train tickets are available from official Trenitalia agents. There are 8 daily connections to Stresa, but you will need to change trains en route. From the airport’s Terminal 1 take the Malpensa Express and get off at Busto Arsi- zio RFI. Then take the train going to Domodossola and get-off at Stresa station. FROM MILAN LINATE TO STRESA By bus / train take the shuttle for Milan’s Centrale station and carry on by train. By car follow the signs for the E62/A8 Varese-Malpensa motorway. Take the E62/A8 mo- torway in the direction of Gravellona Toce. Keep heading towards Gravellona Toce until the Carpugnino exit. At Carpugnino follow the signs for Stresa. FROM MILAN ORIO AL SERIO TO STRESA Take the shuttle for Milan’s Centrale station and carry on by train. By car follow the signs for the A4/E64 Milano motorway and take it. Follow E62/A8 Varese- Malpensa motorway. Take the E62/A8 motorway in the direction of Gravellona Toce. Keep heading towards Gravellona Toce until the Carpugnino exit. Nature lovers can wander through the zoological park at Villa Pallavicino and botanists will delight in the fine alpine plant at the Alpinia gardens. Just north is the tranquil tourist town of Pallanza. Its main attraction, Villa Taranto, is world- famous for its magnificent gardens full of rare flowers and plants. INTERESTING PLACES WITHIN 100 km” Monza: Historic Monza, fulcrum of hard-working Brianza is famous for the Iron Crown of Lombardy and the beautiful Duomo (Cathedral) where it is located. Extending out over a surface area of 500 hectares, the park of Monza is the fourth largest enclosed park in Europe and is open to the public every day. Within the park , you can see the Villa Reale and a golf club. The northern part of the park is the site of the national motor racing circuit, which was created in 1922. It is a “sacred temple” for automobile and mo- torcycle fans. The motor racing circuit is the feather in the cap of sporting Monza. Como: The town centre of Como is positioned on the lakefront a few steps from the square, whe- re one of the largest Cathedrals in Lombardy is located. In the old town centre, the original Roman castrum, well-preserved medieval walls and large watchtowers can still be seen. A historic funicular (cable railway) takes you from Como to Brunate, where a wide panorama fans out over spectacular Lake Como. Milano: Milan is an city of art with its own strong identity. It is the capital of industry, economy and international shopping. Considered as one of the most important examples of gothic architecture, the construction of the Duomo (Cathedral) began in 1386 under the initiative of Gian Galeazzo Visconti. Ma- sterful work continued through the centuries, requiring the creation of the Venerable Cathe- dral Factory and the dedicated use of a precious marble quarry. La Scala Theatre is a true symbol of the city. Its sober, neoclassic facade hides an extraordi- nary hall featuring perfect acoustic and sumptuous interior furnishings. The Sforza Castle was constructed to defend the city in 1368 by the order of Galeazzo Vi- sconti. Today it is home to an important museum. The castle also houses the Biblioteca Trivulziana, a library preserving important art collections. Behind the castle, the park opens onto the archway of Arco della Pace. Events: Expo Milano 2015 is host to the Universal Exhibition which will be held in Milan from May 1st to October 21St,2015.
