NATHAN GUNN TO APPEAR ON THE COLBERT REPORT Tuesday, May 6 on Comedy Central Baritone sensation Nathan Gunn appears on the award-winning The Colbert Report on Tuesday, May 6 at 11:30 p.m. (ET) on Comedy Central. Watch Nathan go head to head with host Stephen Colbert as they discuss the “intrusion” of opera into the most American of art forms – the movies. Nathan Gunn is noted for his interpretations of the great baritone roles ranging from the title role in Billy Budd to the Count in Le nozze di Figaro, which he has sung in the major opera houses and concert halls in Europe and America including the Met, the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, Paris Opera, New York Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony, Boston Symphony and London Symphony Orchestra. Also a supporter of new works, he created the role of Clyde Griffiths in the premiere of An American Tragedy by Tobias Picker at the Met. Upcoming engagements include Lancelot in the New York Philharmonic Orchestra’s performances of Camelot (which will be broadcast nationally on PBS’s Live at Lincoln Center on May 8) and Gaylord Ravenal in Showboat at Carnegie Hall. He also appears in two world premieres: Peter Eötvös’ Love and Other Demons at the Glyndebourne Opera Festival and André Previn’s Brief Encounter at the Houston Grand Opera. Other engagements next season include his debut at the Los Angles Opera, and returns to the Lyric Opera of Chicago and the Opera Company of Philadelphia His latest album, Just Before Sunrise, was released in August 2007 on the Sony/BMG Masterworks label.
