Namun demikian,cara pengurusannyamasih berasaskan kimia, yang menjadipendekatan utama dalam pengurusan Helopeltis di Malaysia. Perkembangankawalan kimia dibincangkan. Perkara-perkarautama dalam pengawalan biologi dan kultur juga dibincangkan.Kecetekan kefahaman terhadap prinsip-prinsip yang merangkumikaedah kawalan tersebut menyebabkan kaedah ini jarang digunakandalam pengurusan Helopeltis. Namun demikian,peranan utama semutdalam mengurangkanserangan Helopeltis, terutamanya dalam ekosistemkoko dan kelapapatut diambil kira dalam menggubalsistem pengurusanperosak bersepadu (PPB) untuk Helopeltistidak kira samaada untuk kawasanpekebun kecil ataupunladang besar. Sebagaimatlamat utama untuk mengurangkanpenggunaan racun kimia, pengawasanpopulasi Helopeltis dan kefahamanterhadap ekologinya telah menjadipenting dalam pelaksanaan PPB. Because this commodity has not been imported from Colombia before, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) conducted a pathway-initiated risk assessment to determine the risks associated with importing these ‘Hass’ avocados. We developed a list of pests known to occur in Colombia and associated with avocado based on the scientific literature, port-of-entry pest interception data, and information provided by the Colombian Ministry for Agriculture and Rural Development, and the Colombian Agricultural Institute (ICA). Commercial ‘Hass’ avocado is a conditional non-host for the fruit flies, Anastrepha fraterculus, A. striata, and Ceratitis spp. Thus, we did not list these organisms in the assessment. We determined that three quarantine arthropod pests were likely to follow the pathway, and qualitatively analyzed them to determine the unmitigated risk posed to the United States. Chapter 1 Introduction to True Bugs (Heteroptera) of the Neotropics Antônio R. Panizzi and Jocêlia Grazia Abstract True bugs (Heteroptera) are a diverse and complex group of insects, particularly in the neotropics. The fauna ofthese bugs has been investigated through time, but our knowledge of the species living in the Neotropical Region is lirnited. ln this introductory chapter, we give a general view on true bugs c1assification and biogeography, with concise comments on their general characteristics and bioecology of each major taxon that comprise each of the seven infraorders of Heteroptera. 1.1 Introduction The true bugs (Heteroptera) constitute a very interesting widely distributed group of insects, which is greatly diversified in tropical zones. Considered the largest group of insects with incomplete metamorphosis, heteropterans have been studied on both basic and applied aspects worldwide. Along the years, several books have been published on Heteroptera, the majority on specific aspects, such as certain groups (taxa) of particular areas, and others on more general comprehensive issues. Of more broad interest, two books about the latter were published relatively recently. Aspectos morfológicos y biológicos de Monalonion velezangeli Carvalho & Costa (Hemiptera: Miridae) en café. Cenicafé 61 (3):195-205. 2010 La chinche de la chamusquina del café, Monalonion velezangeli, es una plaga de reciente descubrimiento en los cafetales de varios municipios de los departamentos del Huila, Valle del Cauca y Cauca. El objetivo de la presente investigación fue contribuir al conocimiento de la biología de M. velezangeli mediante la descripción morfológica de sus diferentes estados biológicos y determinación de la duración de su ciclo de vida en café. Los resultados muestran que existen diferencias de tamaño entre machos y hembras, donde estas últimas son de mayor tamaño. No se observa coloración uniforme en los adultos de cada sexo. La duración del ciclo de huevo a adulto es de 56,13±2,43 días, con un período de incubación de 15,52±0,29 días y estado ninfal de 26,66±0,29 días; además en café, se reportan bajas fecundidad y fertilidad, comparada con cultivos como aguacate y cacao. Guayaquil-Ecuador [email protected] (1,2) Resumen El chinche del cacao Monalonion dissimulatum Distant es un Mírido capaz de causar grandes pérdidas del 15 hasta el 80% en cacaoteras. En el Ecuador no existen registros de metodologías probadas para el manejo ecológico de la plaga; se carece actualmente de investigaciones básicas que permitan conocer el comportamiento del chinche, peor aún, el diagnóstico de la situación actual de la plaga en los cultivos; por tal motivo, se plantean los siguientes objetivos de investigación. En este trabajo, se muestrearon fincas de caco orgánico nacional para la geo-referenciación de las plantaciones y ejecución de diagnósticos rurales participativos con la finalidad de conocer la situación actual de M. dissimulatum en las plantaciones de caco nacional. Un análisis de cromatografía de capa fina y GC-MS fueron ejecutados para observar diferencias en la composición química de las mazorcas de cacao nacional, con daño, CCN51 y mezclas. Se observó que las mazorcas de cacao nacional con daño de M. dissimulatum poseen compuestos con propiedades repelentes e insecticidas en su composición.
