Tips and Tricks: ● Get to know your or the camera on your smartphone well - so you know what

settings you have to work with

● Take pictures from different heights and angles to change the perspective

● Take up close (macro) and wider angle shots of the same thing or area

● Be aware of where the sun is in relation to your subject matter this can drastically change

the mood of your photo

● Try taking some photos when it is starting to get dark or at night when you can get

things like stars and the northern lights with the right settings on your camera

● Try different compositions (what all you include in the actual photo) of your shot to see

what works best

● Take lots of pictures and find what calls to you, what do you find interesting

● Spend lots of time in the area you are going to be taking pictures - the more you know

about it the better your pictures will be:

-learn what the light is like at different times of the day

-what types of animals do you see

-what types of plants grow there

-what catches your eye

-sometime different types of weather will give you different effects

● If you have patience and can stay in an area for a while sometimes you will see things that

you wouldn’t if you were just passing through

● Don’t give up, continue to try and get the shots you want

● Experiment

● Check out photos by other photographers to get ideas of what you might be interested

in photographing

● Have Fun!
