This presentation contains “forward-looking statements” (also known as “forward-looking information” within the meaning of applicable Canadian securities laws). Forward-looking statements are neither historical facts nor assurances of future performance. Instead, they are based on our current beliefs, expectations, assumptions and analyses made by us regarding the future of our business, future plans and strategies, our operational results and other future conditions. These forward-looking statements appear in a number of places throughout this presentation and can be identified by the use of words, such as anticipates,” or “believes,” “budget,” “estimates,” “expects,” or “is expected,” “forecasts,” “intends,” plans,” “scheduled,” or variations of such words and phrases or statements that certain actions, events or results “may,” “might,” “will,” “would,” “could”, “should,” “continue,” or be taken, occur or be achieved. For example, they do not include the effect of asset impairments or other charges announced or occurring after the forward-looking statements are made. The financial impact of such transactions and non-recurring and other special items can be complex and necessarily depends on the facts particular to each of them. “Future-oriented financial information” is forward-looking information about prospective results of operations, financial position or cash flows, based on assumptions about future economic conditions and courses of action, and presented in the format of a historical statement of financial position, statement of comprehensive income or statement of cash flows. Similarly, a “financial outlook” is forward-looking information about prospective financial performance, financial position or cash flows that is based on assumptions about future economic conditions and courses of action that is not presented in the format of a historical statement of financial position, statement of comprehensive income or statement of cash flows. Future-oriented financial information and financial outlook made herein or made elsewhere are made solely based on the information available as of the date hereof and are subject to the same assumptions, risk factors and other qualifications as all other forward-looking information, and presented solely for the purpose of conveying the current anticipated expectations and may not be appropriate for any other purposes. Despite a careful process to prepare and review the forward-looking statements, there can be no assurance that the underlying opinions, estimates, and assumptions will prove to be correct. The purpose of the forward-looking statements is to provide the reader with a description of management’s expectations regarding our anticipated future performance and may not be appropriate for other purposes. Furthermore, unless otherwise stated, the forward-looking statements contained in this presentation are made as of the date of this presentation and we do not undertake any obligation to update publicly or to revise any of the included forward-looking statements, whether as a result of new information, future events or otherwise unless required by applicable legislation or regulation. As at September 30, 2019 TICKER: HERO (Hedged) MACROECONOMIC HIGHLIGHTS: Incidentally, Enthusiast Gaming has now become one of the largest gaming properties in the world, surpassing IGN Entertainment, GameSpot, and even Twitch.tv, according to a new Comscore evaluation. This follows a series of inter-related transactions, which saw Enthusiast entering into an M&A arrangement with J55 Capital Corporation and Aquilini GameCo way back in May. At the same time Aquilini was in the process of acquiring Luminosity Gaming, a global player in the esports industry. Once Aquilini acquired Luminosity, J55 acquired Aquilini and then subsequently merged with Enthusiast. The final result was the creation of one of the largest publicly traded esports and gaming organizations in the world.i Earlier in May, two console gaming heavyweights — Sony and Microsoft signed a memorandum of understanding to develop joint cloud gaming systems. The agreement was largely intended to offset the emergence of Google’s Stadia, a game-streaming service based on the cloud.ii According to SuperData Research, a subsidiary of Nielsen Holdings, global consumers spent US$8.9 billion on digital games worldwide across PC, console and mobile devices in August. This represents a 2% increase over the same period last year, driven in part by an uptick in mobile gaming spending. As of August, mobile gaming accounted for 67% of total worldwide spending in the gaming sector.iii SuperData also listed the highest-grossing games across each platform.

  • The Age of Social Distancing: 5 Lessons for Brands on Esports and Gaming
The Age of Social Distancing: 5 Lessons for Brands on esports and Gaming Hint: Less Stunts, More Strategy 1 What we are seeing in a nutshell: Interest from the corporate community in esports and gaming is not new. 64% of Canadians consider themselves gamers. 14% of Canadians are esports fans. Globally, a large roster of tier-1 brands have long had a major presence in this genre, and in Canada, a number of leading brands have activated as well. But due to circumstances created by COVID-19, the cultural conversation around esports and gaming is reignited. Cancellation of live events and suspension of sports leagues have forced traditional sponsor brands (and their agencies) with significant media presence in live broadcasts into contingency planning. Brands invested in traditional sports are looking for ways to stay connected with fanbases, and some professional leagues and teams are ramping up their gaming programming. Brands who have long considered entering esports and gaming are giving it a second look as social distancing has led to a significant uptick in gaming participation, and stream viewership. Dentsu POV: The shutdown of professional sports and rise of social distancing provides brands an opportunity in esports and Gaming – but not without careful planning and thoughtful messaging. Gamers are sponsor-savvy and know when they are being treated as “test subjects” by brands who are piloting initiatives. A single execution during a pandemic won’t cut it. If you plan to invest, signal staying power to the gaming community and show up for the long-term. 2 The opportunity in esports and gaming: fans reward brands who invest..

In this eSports industry overview article, we discuss various business models for eSports teams. How an eSports Team Makes Money An eSports team can make money in a variety of ways, including broadcast revenue, sponsorships, merchandise sales, and subscriptions. The sources of revenue are detailed in Figure 1. Figure 1 Sponsorships As shown in Figure 1, sponsorships and advertising account for the bulk of revenue for eSports. According to Patrik Sättermon (Fnatic’s Chief Gaming Officer), “[I]t is estimated that around 95% of the money generated by our eSports teams comes directly from sponsorship deals.” The novelty of eSports has attracted many well-known sponsors; however, teams have struggled to make sponsor- ships a sustainable source of revenue.
