Jim McCluney Chairman Jim McCluney has served as Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Emulex Corporation and Vixel Corporation, and has held senior executive positions with worldwide responsibilities at both Apple Corporation and Digital Equipment Corporation. Most recently, Mr. McCluney was instrumental in developing Emulex’s strategy for growth and executing four strategic acquisitions: Endace, ServerEngines, Aarohi Communications and Sierra Logic, positioning Emulex for entry into new high-growth market segments. His visionary growth strategies and global market knowledge have cemented him as an asset to the PBS SoCaL Board of Trustees, holding the position of Board Chair.

Mel Rogers President & CEO As a former radio and television reporter and program host, Mr. Rogers is passionate about TV and radio aimed at creating an informed citizenry. He became the president of KOCE-TV in 1997, at which point he aggressively expanded efforts to make the station an indispensable part of the Orange County fabric. After 17 years under Rogers’ leadership, PBS SoCaL is now one of the top 3 most watched PBS stations among the nation’s 350 PBS stations. His public television influence extends beyond Southern California—he completed six years as a member of the national PBS Board of Directors and three years as Chair of the California Public Television Association and is former Chair of the Utah Broadcasters Association.

S. Paul Musco Vice-Chairman As one of Orange County’s most influential businessmen, S. Paul Musco has established himself as an effective entrepreneur and global philanthropist. Among his many companies is Relief Pod International, helping people be prepared, self- sufficient and confident during disaster and emergency situations. He is a trustee and major fundraiser for many prestigious organizations, including Chapman University, the Opera and the Orange County Sheriff’s Advisory Council. Mr. Musco holds the position of Vice-Chair on the PBS SoCaL Board of Trustees.

Andrew Russell Chief Operating Officer Andy Russell is one of the most impactful leaders in public television. Over the past 20 years, he has held executive positions at PBS and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting with a wide range of national responsibilities. He led the efforts that created PBS’s Ready To Learn service for pre-school children and that re-shaped the PBS primetime schedule. He led the creation of PBS Distribution, now the fifth largest PTV organization in the US, which serves as the ancillary distribution arm for PBS programs on digital and home video platforms. He has also been responsible for public television’s strategy and many of its major initiatives since 2001. He joined PBS SoCaL in the spring of 2013.

Dawn Ariza CFO/VP Human Resources Ms. Ariza has worked in accounting her entire professional life and has been involved in the broadcasting industry for 10 years. Prior to coming on board at PBS SoCaL in 2004, she worked for 17 years with a publicly traded manufacturing company. She is deeply commited to the PBS SoCaL mission and uses her extensive background to help the station in its growth and success.

Ardelle C. St.George General Counsel Ms. St.George serves as General Counsel for PBS SoCaL. She is a name partner of the law firm, St.George & Carnegie and also serves as the Corporate Secretary ofPDES, an international standards organization. Her areas of practice include negotiating multi- billion dollar outsourcing transactions, representing Fortune 100 companies in technology consortia, and establishing and implementing intellectual property.

PBS SoCaL’s mobile studio for career exploration

Bob Romney Treasurer Bob Romney was the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Zenographics (sold in 2007 to Marvell). He was also the principal architect of the Zenographics imaging software. Mr. Romney serves as a member of the Advisory Board at Miramar Venture Partners, and is the Vice-Chairman of UC Irvine’s CEO Roundtable. Additionally, he is a Director for the OCTANe board, and a former Director for the Pacific Symphony Board. Mr. Romney received a Master’s Degree in Computer Science from UC Irvine, and a BA from the University of Virginia. Mr. Romney joined the PBS SoCaL Board of Trustees in 2010.

Mary Lyons Secretary Mary Lyons is a passionate supporter of quality art education and public-private partnerships in the arts. As a singer in the Pacific Chorale, Mary harbors a true love for the arts. Mary is a former public school teacher. Since 1999, she has received numerous honors and awards for her educational advocacy and philanthropy. PBS SoCaL nominated Mary and her husband Phil for the 2010 Outstanding Philanthropist Award. Mrs. Lyons currently serves as Secretary to the PBS SoCaL Board of Trustees and has served as a Trustee since 2001.

Marian Bergeson Marian Crittenden Bergeson has flourished in statewide public service for 30 years. Former Secretary of Education in the cabinet of Governor Pete Wilson, Marian was initially elected to the California State Senate in 1984. Mrs. Bergeson has remained active in education, serving on the Higher Education Budget Subcommittee and also chairing the Senate Local Government Committee. She also served under Governor Schwarzenegger as the Chair of the California Transportation Commission. Mrs. Bergeson continues to serve on the board of The MIND Research Institute. She is a founding member of the Tiger Woods Learning Center and was former Chair of the Great Park Foundation. Mrs. Bergeson joined the PBS SoCaL Board of Trustees in 2000.

Dr. Jo Ellen Chatham Dr. Jo Ellen Chatham is Strategic Planning Manager for Local Public Affairs for Southern California Edison. Prior to joining SCE, Dr. Chatham was a college professor teaching political science and President of Eagle Forum of California, a public policy organization. She was appointed by Governor Pete Wilson to the Board of Governors of the California State Bar Association and is a former television and radio commentator. Dr. Chatham has been a member and officer of many esteemed boards, including the Pacific Symphony, the Orange County World Affairs Council, the Orange County Business Council, the Orange County Forum, and is Immediate Past Chair of the PBS SoCaL Board of Trustees. 2013 American Graduate Town Hall Marybelle and S. Paul Musco

Peggy Goldwater Clay As Director of Community Relations for Working Wardrobes, Peggy Goldwater Clay is instrumental in this nonprofit organization’s ability to empower men, women, veterans and young adults to overcome difficult challenges and confidently enter the workforce to achieve self-sufficiency. Among her many accomplishments, she received the UCI Medal and the Woman of Valor award by the American Diabetes Association of Orange County. Mrs. Clay sits on the Air Force Academy Foundation, is Chair of the Trustees for the Barry Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Foundation, and is a long-time trustee to the PBS SoCaL Board, serving since 1998.

Martha Fluor Martha Fluor has served as a board member in the Newport-Mesa Unified School District (NMUSD) in Orange County since 1991 and is the 2012 Immediate Past President of the California School Boards Association, as well as Past President of the California School Boards Association (CSBA). She has been a member of the board of directors for many nonprofits, including the Girl Scouts of Orange County, the National School Boards Foundation, the Segerstrom Center for the Arts, the Children’s Hospital of Orange County, the Discovery Science Center and the Newport Beach Public Library. Ms. Fluor is a long-time trustee to the PBS SoCaL Board since joining in 1978.

Anne Gates Anne Gates has been in the financial field for over 30 years. Ms. Gates is past Executive Vice President and CFO of The Disney Company’s Consumer Products Division. She has served on several boards, including the Board of Directors for Super RTL (a German entertainment company), the UC Berkeley Foundation, the Oakwood School, the Country School, and Crystal Stairs. She remains active on the Board of Trustees for Big Sunday, Junior Statesman of America, and The Board of Visitors of The Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science for Columbia University. In 2010, Anne Gates was named to the Power List of Britain’s 100 most influential black people. Ms. Gates joined the PBS SoCaL Board of Trustees in 2014.

Emile Haddad As the founder of FivePoint Communities, Emile Haddad has over 27 years of real estate experience in the and abroad. Prior to founding FivePoint, Mr. Haddad was the Chief Investment Officer at Lennar, one of the largest publicly held homebuilders in the United States. While at Lennar, he oversaw the company’s land investments and asset management, which included over 250,000 homesites owned and controlled. A nationally recognized land expert, Mr. Haddad has received many honors and awards. He currently serves on the University of California at Irvine’s Foundation Board in addition to serving as a member of the PBS SoCaL Board of Trustees since 2010. BOARD OF TRUSTEES

JT & Friends California Student Media Festival Bette and Wylie Aitken

Don Hahn Don Hahn is an American film producer who has produced some of the most successful animated films of the past 20 years, including The Lion King and Beauty and the Beast. He is the Executive Producer of Disneynature Films and owns a film production company, Stone Circle Pictures. Among his innumerable credits, Mr. Hahn has also directed Steve Martin, James Earl Jones and Itzhak Perlman in Fantasia 2000. He was 2011 Cal State Northridge Honorary Alumni of the Year and is the recipient of two honorary doctorate degrees. Mr. Hahn joined the PBS SoCaL Board of Trustees in 2013.

Helen Hernandez A director on the PBS national board since 2009, Helen Hernandez is the Founder of the Imagen Foundation. She was previously the Vice President of Public Affairs for Norman Lear and Jerry Perenchio’s Embassy Communications, presently known as Sony Pictures Entertainment. As this major television production company’s local and national liaison, she was instrumental in developing and supervising various corporate programs that enhanced the company’s reputation in the national community for socially and culturally sensitive programming. Ms. Hernandez joined the PBS SoCaL Board of Trustees in 2011.

Todd Hollander Todd Hollander has been in the banking business for over 23 years, establishing himself in a number of key business and commercial banking roles. He is currently the Executive VP of Business Banking Group Head at Union Bank. A native of California, Mr. Hollander graduated with a degree in business administration finance accounting from State University. He went on to receive prestigious financial credentials from numerous universities. Mr. Hollander is an active member of many nonprofit organizations, in addition to serving as a member of the PBS SoCaL Board of Trustees since 2001.

Keith Kobata Keith Kobata is currently the President for the Greater Orange County Division of Wells Fargo. In addition to overseeing more than $6.5 billion in total assets, he is responsible for the region’s retail banking operations, which includes more than 900 team members at 54 locations within Orange County and Long Beach. Additionally, he is a member of the Board of Directors for the Santa Ana Chamber Of Commerce. He joined the PBS SoCaL Board of Trustees in 2009 and has championed the funding for educational outreach programs in Southern California. BOARD OF TRUSTEES

Mary and Phil Lyons All American Boy’s Choir

David K. Lee David Lee heads the Corporate and Real Estate Transaction practices at the law firm of Dongell Lawrence & Finney, LLP. Mr. Lee began his legal practice in 1991 as an associate to the highly prestigious international law firm of Kim & Chang in Seoul, Korea. He proceeded to represent Fortune 500 companies from all over the world, including Walt Disney Company, IBM, Microsoft and Apple. He currently sits on several boards, including the Advisory Board for the Homeland Security Council. He joined the PBS SoCaL Board of Trustees in 2013.

Robert G. Magnuson Bob Magnuson has 30 years of experience in the media business, successfully leading, managing and advising companies. Additionally, he is an award-winning journalist, senior news executive, publisher, CEO and consultant. Mr. Magnuson currently is Director of Communications at the California High-Speed Rail Authority. Before that, he ran his own consulting firm, and spent 20 years at the where he helped lead the newsroom staff that won two Pulitzer Prizes for coverage of the Los Angeles riots and the Northridge Earthquake. He joined the PBS SoCaL Board of Trustees in 2009.

Keleen Bixby Mazzo After living abroad for twelve years in Canada, England and Rome, Kelly Bixby Mazzo returned to Southern California ten years ago with her husband Jim and their two children. Ms. Bixby Mazzo has chaired the American Celebration for Chapman University, the UC Irvine Medal Awards, UC Irvine Medical Center Gala and the Laguna Beach Boys and Girls Club Gala. She is an Emeritus Board Member of the Laguna Beach Boys and Girls Club and is on the Board of Angelitos de Oro, a supporter of Big Brothers/Big Sisters and an Angel of the Arts, supporting Segerstrom Center for the Arts. Ms. Bixby Mazzo is a member of the PBS SoCaL Board of Trustees since 2010.

Robert McDonald Bobby McDonald is President & Executive Director of the Black Chamber of Commerce in Orange County. Since his arrival in Orange County over three decades ago, he has been committed to the values of personal integrity and opportunity. Prior to this between 1984 and 1998, Mr. McDonald enjoyed success in the highly competitive sports-merchandising field. His leadership extends beyond his professional life. In April of 2004, Governor Schwarzenegger appointed Bobby to the California Cultural and Historical Endowment Board. Mr. McDonald is a veteran of the United States Navy and served our nation during the Vietnam War. He serves as a trustee to the PBS SoCaL Board since 2005. BOARD OF TRUSTEES

2012 Community Champions

William O’Hare Bill O’Hare is a partner in the Orange County and Los Angeles offices of Snell & Wilmer, a regional business law firm. He is a member of the firm’s commercial litigation practice group. Bill is a recipient of the Robert Samuel Barnes Award from the Orange County Bar Foundation, the Marcus Kaufman Jurisprudence Award from the Anti-Defamation League of Orange County/Long Beach, and the President’s Pro Bono Service Award from the State Bar of California. Bill is a board member and Past President of the Orange County Bar Foundation and the Laguna Beach Education Endowment Fund. Bill also serves on the Steering Committee of the UC Irvine CEO Roundtable and joined the Board of Trustees for PBS SoCaL in 2011.

Judi Garfi-Partridge As a horse owner and businesswoman, Judi Garfi Partridge is appropriately the owner of Summit General Insurance, a corporation providing all lines of insurance. Summit General Insurance was founded in 2009 as a result of Ms. Partridge’s decade of experience as a successful owner and breeder of her own thoroughbred racehorses, as well as her 35 years’ experience as founder and CEO of Eastwood Insurance. She also owns Serenity Oak Farms in Murietta, California, where she currently breeds and races fifty of her own thoroughbred horses. Ms. Partridge has served on the Board of Trustees for PBS SoCaL since 2004.

Dr. James Rosser Dr. James Rosser served as the sixth president of the California State University, LA for more than three decades, retiring in July of 2013. He is a professor of health care management and professor of microbiology at Cal State LA. Dr. Rosser has served on the boards of many state and local organizations including the California Community Foundation, Community Television of Southern California (KCET), the LA Unified School District’s Blue Ribbon Panel on Budget Reform and the Los Angeles County Alliance for College-Ready Public Schools. He currently serves on the CSU President’s Council on Underserved Communities, the CSU-Public Schools Outreach Advisory Committee, the American Council on Education’s Commission on Advancement of Racial and Ethnic Equity, and has been a trustee to the PBS SoCaL Board since 2013.

Kimberly Rubin-Spivack Kimberly Rubin’s extensive professional background and humanitarian efforts have taken her through the world of entertainment in to the cutting edge of new media and technologies in Los Angeles, New York and Silicon Valley. She has produced ten highly rated and critically acclaimed movies for television, as well as the mini-series Audrey Hepburn. She is a recipient of a Peabody Award and a Prism Award. She is currently a member of the Producer’s Guild of America, the Humane Society, Canine Cancer Foundation, Executive Board Member of “Be The Change,” as well as the PBS SoCaL Board of Trustees since 2011. Carol Schatz Carol Schatz is the first woman to serve as president and CEO of the Central City Association of Los Angeles, a business advocacy organization of 450 members representing 350,000 employees. She is also the president and CEO of the Downtown Center Business Improvement District. Ms. Schatz was recognized as Woman of the Year in 1999 by State Assembly Member Gil Cedillo for her outstanding service and dedication to the State of California. She was also given the 2000 Renaissance Award by the Commercial Real Estate Women for her vision and tenacity to reinvigorate Downtown Los Angeles. Ms. Schatz joined the PBS SoCaL Board of Trustees in 2013.

Mindy Burbano Stearns Mindy Burbano-Stearns is an Emmy-nominated television personality, and Golden Mike winner, who began her career covering the world of entertainment at Entertainment Tonight and anchored on KTLA’s award-winning News at Ten and the KTLA Morning News for over six years. She has made innumerable television appearances, including Live with Regis and Kathie Lee, Ellen and Larry Elders, and as well as acting roles in Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Seventh Heaven and The Princess Diaries. Having been anointed one of Oprah’s most memorable guests, her most recent appearance featured an exclusive look into her fairy tale marriage to real estate mogul Glenn Stearns. Mindy Stearns is currently a member of the PBS SoCaL Board of Trustees since 2011.

Marc I. Stern Marc Stern is the Chairman of The TCW Group, Inc. TCW was founded in 1971 in Los Angeles, managing a broad range of innovative investment products that strive to enhance and protect clients’ wealth. Clients of TCW include some of the largest corporate and public pension plans, financial institutions, endowments and foundations in the US, as well as a number of foreign investors and high net worth individuals. Among numerous other philanthropic activities, Mr. Stern is the Chairman of the Los Angeles Opera, a Trustee of The Kennedy Center and was recently appointed as a “Commandeur de l’Ordre National du Mérite” by the President of France. Mr. Stern joined the PBS SoCaL Board of Trustees in 2013.

Joseph “Pep” Valdes Pep Valdes is the Vice President and Director of New Business Development at Parking Company of America Management. PCA Management, headquartered out of Downey, California, is a family owned and operated business with over 1,350 employees, and continues to be one of the largest privately owned minority parking companies in America. Mr. Valdes is a Knight of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulcher of Jerusalem and is the Vice Chair of the White Memorial Medical Center Charitable Foundation, and a member of several other prestigious boards. He joined the PBS SoCaL Board of Trustees in 2013.

Doug Wilson Doug Wilson is the CEO of Next Solutions, Inc., an advisory and investment firm focusing on homebuilding, senior living, and skilled nursing. Doug is also the lead director for Senior Care Centers, the largest skilled nursing company in the state of Texas. Mr. Wilson is a trustee to the PBS SoCaL Board since 2009. Introduction

PBS SoCaL began a major transformation during new members. It received major investments to expand these past four years. As KOCE-TV in FY09 and FY10, its operations, to build a new state-of-the-art production it adjusted, cut and managed through the toughest studio, and to relocate its operations center. Total FY12 funding was approximately $14.5 million (FY July 1st –June 30th). Eleven percent (11%) of annual funding for PBS SoCaL comes from grants given by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB). The remaining eighty-nine percent (89%) is generated locally through member support, major gifts, special events, corporate sponsorships and miscellaneous grants. We have the fastest growing membership base of any PBS affiliate in the nation and the largest viewership of any public media outlet in the region.
