MŰKORCSOLYA VILÁGVERSENYEK MAGYARORSZÁGON Ez idáig tizenötször rendeztek Magyarországon műkorcsolya világversenyt. - 5 alkalommal világbajnokságot, - 7 alkalommal Európa-bajnokságot és - 3 alkalommal Junior világbajnokságot Nézzük, hogyan is kezdődött. 1895. január 27. FÉRFI EB Az első kontinensbajnokságot a Budapesti Korcsolyázó Egylet megalakulásának 25. évfordulója alkalmából nagyszabású jubileumi ünnepségek keretében rendezték meg 1895. január 27-én a Városligetben, akkor még csak a férfiak részére. Mind a délelőtti iskolagyakorlatokban, mind a délutáni, öt percig tartó, szabad választás szerinti korcsolyázásban Földváry Tibor lett valamennyi bírónál a győztes, ezzel megszerezte a magyar sport első Európa-bajnoki címét. Második a későbbi háromszoros világbajnok osztrák Gustav Hügel lett.

Home of Champions Presents the 2007 ADULT TRAINING CAMP June 29 – July 1 starring Nikolai Morozov *plus the largest number of international, World and Olympic skaters ever assembled for this camp including: (Please note: Skater list may be subject to change) Kyoko Ina Naomi Lang Miki Ando Daisuke Takahashi Kristen Fraser & & & John Zimmerman Peter Tchernychev Igor Lukanin AND MORE! Nikolai Morozov, who coaches at the Ice House in Hackensack, NJ, first came to the world’s notice through his work with Tatiana Tarasova and Alexei Yagudin on Yagudin’s famed 2002 Olympic short program, Winter. More successes quickly followed as he guided Shae-Lynn Bourne and Victor Kraatz to their only World ice dancing championship in 2003, while choreographing the programs for many of the sports leading ladies. By the 2004 Worlds, he had choreographed the programs for all of the ladies who reached the podium in Dortmund including Shizuka Arakawa, Sasha Cohen, and Michelle Kwan. Although he is most famous for his choreography, the 31 year-old also has a full stable of skaters for whom he is the primary coach. That includes instruction in both dance techniques and jumps up through the quad. One huge advantage for Morozov is his ability to demonstrate any move on the ice, including both the lady’s and the man’s position in ice dancing. That allows him to work with each partner as the other watches to demonstrate the correct positions.

The Skating Lesson Podcast Transcript TSL: 2013 World Championships Men’s Preview with PJ Kwong Jenny Kirk: Hello, and welcome to The Skating Lesson podcast! I’m Jennifer Kirk, a former US ladies competitor and a three-time world team member. Dave Lease: I’m David Lease, and I’m a figure skating blogger and a current adult skater. Jenny: Today, we are thrilled to have Canadian journalist PJ Kwong as our guest on the show. Dave: Yes, and one thing about our podcast is that Jenny and I are both American, so there’s always the perception that we’re going to have an American slant. So we really wanted to have PJ Kwong on to give us the Canadian point of view. One thing that we really admire about PJ is that the spirit of the great TV personality, Wendy Williams, PJ says it like she means it in all of her blog entries. So we’re thrilled to have her on today to discuss men’s event at the 2013 World Figure Skating Championships in London, Ontario. [PJ Kwong enters] Dave: All right, so let’s start. Last year, the world championships ended with booing. There was such passion over the result whether you were a Patrick Chan fan or a Daisuke Takahashi fan. And it seems like this season is just picking up where last year left off, and this year is almost a rematch of sorts that’s going to be held in London, Ontario. We’re very excited for it. So, how do you see Patrick Chan shaping up in this year’s world championships? How do you see his chances this year? PJ: Well, I think that, as far as I’m concerned, I think he’s got a hill to climb.

  • Disordered Eating in Female Sub-Elite Figure Skaters
AN EXAMINATION OF THE FREQUENCY AND PSYCHOLOGICAL PREDICTORS OF DISORDERED EATING IN FEMALE SUB-ELITE FIGURE SKATERS By Dana K. Voelker A DISSERTATION Submitted to Michigan State University in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY Kinesiology 2012 ABSTRACT AN EXAMINATION OF THE FREQUENCY AND PSYCHOLOGICAL PREDICTORS OF DISORDERED EATING IN FEMALE SUB-ELITE FIGURE SKATERS By Dana K. Voelker Figure skating has traditionally been considered an “at risk” sport for the development of disordered eating. However, little data exist to support these anecdotal claims with most research focusing on female skaters at the elite level. The primary purpose of this study was to examine the frequency and psychological predictors of disordered eating among female sub-elite skaters. Enough data were collected to also conduct additional analyses with male skaters and make various group comparisons across the sport. A survey battery was administered to skaters across five states, which yielded a final sample of 301 participants ages 12 to 26. Results showed that the majority of skaters were not symptomatic of an eating disorder and actually cited numerous benefits of skating on body image, eating, and exercise. A smaller proportion of skaters scored within clinical range of an eating disorder (i.e., 13.1% [23/176] of female sub-elite skaters, 13.2% [10/76] of female elite skaters, and 3.7% [1/27] of male skaters), but were no more symptomatic than their adolescent and college-aged peers when compared to existing normative data. Among female sub-elite skaters, disordered eating was significantly predicted by body dissatisfaction, perceived weight pressures, and both positive and negative perfectionism (p<.05).
