Previous meetings • The sides are meeting for the first time in UEFA competition. • Juventus have played eight games against Turkish clubs, with the record W3 D3 L2 (W2 D2 L0 in Turin – W1 D1 L2 away). Of those away matches, one – a 2-0 UEFA Champions League loss to Galatasaray AŞ in 2003 – was played on neutral territory in Dortmund. • Juventus were beaten 1-0 by Galatasaray in their final UEFA Champions League group game this season, a defeat that cost them a place in the round of 16. • Trabzonspor's 12 fixtures against Italian sides have ended W3 D5 L4 (W1 D3 L2 in Trabzon – W2 D2 L2 in Italy). They are unbeaten in their last three games in Italy (W2 D1) – although the first of those, a UEFA Intertoto Cup third round second leg against Perugia Calcio in July 1999, was forfeited in their favour – having concluded their UEFA Europa League group stage campaign with a 0-0 draw against SS Lazio. Match background • Since August 2004, only one team has beaten Juventus in 33 European games in Turin: FC Bayern München, who won 4-1 in the 2009/10 UEFA Champions League group stage, and then 2-0 in the 2012/13 quarter-finals. Juventus's record during that run is: W18 D13 L2. • That latter loss to Bayern is their only defeat in eight European games at their new Juventus Stadium, and the only UEFA match at their new home in which they have failed to score. • Juventus won their most recent round of 32 tie in this competition, beating AFC Ajax in 2009/10 en route to a round of 16 exit to Fulham FC. However, their most recent UEFA Europa League campaign ended in bizarre circumstances, as they missed the cut in the 2010/11 group stage after drawing all six of their Group A fixtures. • Trabzonspor are unbeaten in 12 European encounters this season (W9 D3), with their record on the road particularly impressive - W5 D1 with just one goal conceded. • Trabzonspor are yet to win a springtime UEFA competition game; their only previous attempts ended in back-to-back defeats by PSV Eindhoven in the 2011/12 UEFA Europa League round of 32. Team facts • Juventus Stadium will stage this season's UEFA Europa League final. Juventus can thus become the third side since the UEFA Cup was first decided with a one-off match in 1997/98 to compete in the showpiece at their home arena. Feyenoord won the 2002/03 competition in Rotterdam, but Sporting Clube de Portugal lost the 2004/05 decider in Lisbon. • Juventus's Martin Cáceres and Trabzonspor's Didier Zokora were team-mates at Sevilla FC (2010–11). • Juventus (1977, 1990, 1993) are one of nine former UEFA Cup and UEFA Europa League winners in the round of 32, along with Tottenham Hotspur FC (1972, 1984), Sevilla (2006, 2007), Eintracht Frankfurt (1980), Valencia CF (2004), SSC Napoli (1989), FC Shakhtar Donetsk (2009), AFC Ajax (1992) and FC Porto (2003, 2011). • Juventus are one of three sides who have won the competition three times, along with FC Internazionale Milano (1990/91, 1993/94, 1997/98) and Liverpool FC (1972/73, 1975/76, 2000/01). • Juventus's Andrea Pirlo has made 121 UEFA club competition appearances, more than any other outfield player in the round of 32. • Ukraine and Italy are the most represented nations in the round of 32 with four teams each. Coach information • Antonio Conte has led Juventus to back-to-back Italian titles since taking charge at his old club in 2011. The 44-year- old started out as a midfielder at home-town team US Lecce, then represented Juventus from 1991–2004, winning five Serie A titles, the 1992/93 UEFA Cup and the 1995/96 UEFA Champions League among a host of other trophies. He returned to the club as a coach after spells in charge of US Arezzo, AS Bari, Atalanta BC and AC Siena. • Conte is one of three coaches in the round of 32 who won the UEFA Cup as players, along with PAOK FC's Huub Stevens (PSV, 1978) and Ajax's Frank de Boer (Ajax 1992). • Trabzonspor accepted the resignation of coach Mustafa Akçay in early February following a run of disappointing domestic results. His former assistant Hami Mandıralı is standing in for him. The 45-year-old was a club legend as an attacking midfielder, famous for thunderous free-kicks. Capped 49 times, he was in charge of Turkey's Under-21 set- 4 Juventus - Trabzonspor AŞ Thursday 20 February 2014 - 19.00CET (19.00 local time) Match press kit Juventus Stadium, Turin up before returning to Trabzonspor as Akçay's assistant in 2013. Round of 16 • The winners of this tie will meet Esbjerg FB or ACF Fiorentina in the round of 16, playing the first leg at home. • Juventus have never met Esbjerg, but know Fiorentina well from Serie A. They also beat the Viola 3-1 on aggregate in the 1989/90 UEFA Cup final – the sides' only previous European encounters. • Trabzonspor have never met either of their potential opponents. 5 Juventus - Trabzonspor AŞ Thursday 20 February 2014 - 19.00CET (19.00 local time) Match press kit Juventus Stadium, Turin Team facts Juventus Formed: 1897 Nicknames: Bianconeri (White and Blacks), Vecchia Signora (Old Lady) UEFA club competition honours (runners-up in brackets) • European Cup (2): (1973), (1983), 1985, 1996, (1997), (1998), (2003) • UEFA Cup (3): 1977, 1990, 1993 (1995) • UEFA Cup Winners' Cup (1): 1984 • UEFA Super Cup (2): 1984, 1996 • European/South American Cup (2): (1973), 1985, 1996 Domestic honours (most recent triumph in brackets) League title: 29 (2013) Italian Cup: 9 (1995) Ten-year European record (UEFA Europa League unless indicated otherwise) 2012/13: UEFA Champions League quarter-finals 2011/12: did not take part in UEFA club competition 2010/11: group stage 2009/10: round of 16 (having transferred from UEFA Champions League group stage) 2008/09: UEFA Champions League round of 16 2007/08: did not take part in UEFA club competition 2006/07: did not take part in UEFA club competition 2005/06: UEFA Champions League quarter-finals 2004/05: UEFA Champions League quarter-finals 2003/04: UEFA Champions League round of 16 Records UEFA club competitions • Biggest home win 7-0 on
