TEXAS STATE HOSTS BOBCAT CLASSIC TO OPEN SEASON OVERALL SUN BELT • Texas State opens the 2019 campaign as hosts of the Bobcat Classic at Bobcat Softball Stadium. 3 2018 TEXAS STATE SOFTBALL GAME NOTES 2018 IN REVIEW THREE-PEAT: TEXAS STATE SENT TO LOS ANGELES REGIONAL • For the first time in program history, Texas State advanced to the NCAA Regionals for the third-consecutive season. The Bobcats were selected as the No. 2 seed in the Los Angeles Regional to be paired with the No. 1 seed, the national third seed, UCLA Bruins. The remainder of the Regional consists of No. 3 seed Cal State Fullerton and No. 4 seed Sacramento State. • In 2017, TXST was sent to the College Station Regional hosted by Texas A&M. The Bobcats were eliminated after back-to-back losses to the Aggies and the after beating UT in the first game of the Regional. • To start the run, Texas State lost a pair of ball games to California in the Tuscaloosa Regional hosted by the Alabama Crimson Tide. • As a program, Texas State has reached the NCAA Regional nine times: 1999, 2001, 2003, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2016, 2017 and 2018, the last eight coming under the direction of head coach Ricci Woodard. The Bobcats hold a record of 10-18 in nine postseason appearances.

STANDINGS SUN BELT REGULAR SEASON AND TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONS Sun Belt Overall • The Bobcats waited until the final day of the regular season to clinch the conference championship, defeating UT Arlington by a score of Record Record 4-1 on Senior Day. The title is the school’s seventh regular season championship and first since joining the Sun Belt Conference in 2014. TEXAS STATE * 18-5 43-16 • Less than a week after being crowned regular season champs, Texas State upended Louisiana in the Sun Belt Championship title game, Louisiana 21-6 41-16 5-2, to win the program’s seventh tournament title. Georgia State 14-11 31-24 • Senior pitcher Randi Rupp, junior outfielder Mari Cranek and sophomore third baseman Bailee Carter were all named to theAll- UTA 14-12 30-28 Tournament team. Sophomore catcher Haleigh Davis was named the Tournament’s Most Outstanding Player. Troy 14-13 34-26 South Alabama 13-13 29-27 TXST DOMINATES SUN BELT POSTSEASON AWARDS Georgia Southern 12-15 28-25 • On May 8, five members of the Texas State softball team were honored with postseason awards by the conference. ULM 10-17 24-29 • Rupp earned her fourth consecutive nod as a Frist-Team All-Sun Belt Conference selection, becoming the first softball player in program Coastal Carolina 9-17 26-28 history to earn four first team all-conference honors. Rupp was also named the 2018 Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of the Year for the Appalachian State 4-20 17-35 second straight season. • Coach Woodard was announced the 2018 Sun Belt Conference Coach of the Year following the program’s first outright Sun Belt regular *Sun Belt regular season and tournament champions season championship in softball. Woodard was named coach of the year four times in the Southland Conference. • Ariel Ortiz was named to the first team at shortstop, her third first-team nod in four seasons. She also garnered first team honors in 2015 (FINAL 2018) and 2017. The senior posted the team’s second highest batting average (.333) while driving in 36 RBI. • Hailey MacKay was the third and final Bobcat to be named to the first team. In her first season at Texas State, the sophomore led the Bobcats in 10 offensive categories, including: batting average (.364), RBI (37) and home runs (11). • Davis was named to the second team by the Sun Belt Conference. She boasted the third highest batting average on the team, hitting .328 on the season (41-of-125). Defensively, the sophomore was dynamic, cutting down 14-of-31 attempted steals. • Texas State has placed four players on the all-conference teams in three of the last five seasons, including four first teamers in 2015 and UPCOMING IN THE four second team selections in 2014. SUN BELT CONFERENCE YOUTH MOVEMENT FEB. 7 • Hailey MacKay, a transfer from Arkansas, leads the Bobcat offense in eight categories, including: batting average (.341), UCLA vs. UTA...... 1 p.m. hits (57), RBI (38) and home runs (11). She has started all 56 games, 53 at first base and three at third base. Fordham at Louisiana...... 5 p.m. • Haleigh Davis has emerged as Texas State’s starting catcher with senior Sara Rupp on the shelf with an injury. In her first Fresno State vs. UTA...... 6 p.m. full season as a starter, Davis has produced 44 hits, five doubles and six home runs. Oltmann is third on the team with 35 RBI and has provided consistent defense in the middle of the infield. The freshman has also belted four home runs this season.
