Please convey errors, if any, to the Planning & Coordination Department, Government of Nagaland RAJ BHAVAN KOHIMA GOVERNOR OF NAGALAND Message It is a matter of great joy and pride that the first Human Development Report (HDR) of Nagaland State is being published after more than 40 years of the inception of the State. I take this opportunity to extend my heartiest congratulations to all those, including the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), a source of inspiration behind this document, for the initiative and pains they have taken to produce this historic document. The HDR has brought out not only the socio-economic and cultural background of the State of Nagaland but also the immense potentiality of its human and natural resources to emerge out of its economic backwardness. Though the State has a history mired in long periods of conflict and violence, it has not lagged behind in terms of parameters of human development. This innate strength of the State needs to be harnessed and developed by the “will to toil, deliver and govern”.

  • Administrative Atlas, Part IX-A, Series-15, Nagaland
CENSUS OF INDIA 1971 SERIES 15 NAGALAND PART IX-A ADMINISTRATIVE ATLAS DANIEL KENT of the Indian Frcntier Administrative Service DIRECTOR OF CENSUS OPERATIONS NAG ALAND FOREWORD In order to ensure complete coverage at a population count, the Census Organisation obtains or prepares up-to-date detailed maps of all administrative units in the country on the eve of a Census. Though in several parts of the country maps of the Districts, Tehsils, Police Stations, etc., are available with the State Revenue or Survey Autho rities oftentimes, they required to be brought up-to-date and they also varied greatly in scale. One also found it difficult to secure a complete or compact set of all these maps from State Authorities. The Census Organisation took upon itself the task of updating of the administrative maps and the standardization of scales essentially to meet its own requirements of coverage at the Census and analysis of data. Standar dization of symbol was also attempted to depict certain features such as the State/District/Tehsil boul'ldaries, administrative headquarters, national and state highways and other roads, markets and mandis, post and telegraph offices, travellers' bunglows, hospitals, etc. All urban centres and larger villages were depicted by names in the district maps, and in the tehsil maps the location of every village by dots pro portionate to the population size and the distinctive location code number of each village marked. In each of the District Census Hand books (there are 356 districts in the country) the district map as well as the tehsil maps will be printed.

  • NAGALAND and Th. Muivah's Terrorist Activities
NAGALAND AND Th. Muivah’s terrorist Activities By W. Shapwon 1 Copy right © 2005 by: W. Shapwon Heimi All rights reserved. First edition in August 2005. Printed 3000 copies. Revised and added more terror acts of NSCN-IM from 2005 to 2010 with some photos in 2010 2 PREFACE I am constrained to write this book so as to let our people know what had gone wrong in the running history of the Naga nation. It is an undeniable historical fact that if Thuingaleng Muivah and Isak Chishi Swu, the then (1980) General Secretary of the Naga National Council and Finance Minister of the Federal Government of Nagaland had not deviated from the Naga national stand and policy, no fratricidal killing would be taken place in the history of the Naga nation. However, Th. Muivah and Isak had fallaciously portrayed that they have saved the Naga nation from doom by forming the so-called National Socialist Council of Nagaland in 1980. They also projected that the bloody partition took place among the Nagas was because of the NNC and FGN betrayed the Naga nation by signing the Shillong Accord in 1975. Believing their words, some Naga NGO leaders and some Church leaders have given their fullest support to Isak and Muivah thinking that they had taken the right step and saved Nagaland. And so, following Th. Muivah’s false allegation on the NNC and FGN they have been stating that: “The NNC/FGN signed the infamous Shillong Accord and thereby divided the Naga political movement.” “The NNC/FGN based at the Kohima Transit Peace Camp has caused needless damage to the NNC and Naga unity.” “The Shillong Accord or the NNC is the most damaging factor of the Naga Nation”, etc.
