Scouts get to work with parents and leaders to design, create, and race unpowered, unmanned wooden cars against fellow Cub Scouts. Test your car against other cubs in the Council and the opportunity to compete in the Council Championship on 4/25/2020 Rochester Race – 3/21/2020 Manville Race – 3/21/2020 Riverside Race – 3/28/2020 Buttonwoods Race – 3/28/2020 Berkeley-Ashton Race – 4/4/2020 3 NOAC 2020 – National Order of the Arrow Conference August 3rd - August 8th 2020 at Michigan State University In 2020 the Order of the Arrow will celebrate the National Order of the Arrow Conference (NOAC). NOAC is an awesome event attended by Arrowmen from across the country. Experience: - Awesome Training - Outdoor Adventure & Activities - Nightly Shows - Patch Trading - And Much More! Estimated cost for NOAC 2020 is $1,600. This includes the NOAC conference fee, food, lodging and round trip transportation to NOAC. 4 Scouts BSA and Cub Scout Spring Day Camp Camp Champlin 2020 April 13th-17th Scouts BSA Day Camp is an opportunity for Scouts BSA members to experience a Day Camp that is designed for their specific advancement needs. Participants will work in patrols with experienced camp staff who will guide them through advancement requirements for Scout, Tenderfoot, 2nd Class and 1st Class ranks. Scouts BSA Day Camp is the perfect place for your scout to prepare for their week at Yawgoog. The Scouts BSA Day Camp is separate from the Cub Scout Day Camp with an independent staff and program. Our Council contingent will be participating in the SUMMIT EXPERIENCE. It is the premiere Scouting event that offers adventure , experiences and memories that are unparalleled by any other Scouting event. Scouting’s flagship event is one-of-a-kind. It’s a gathering of tens of thousands of Scouts, leaders, and Jamboree Service Team members that showcases everything that is great about the Boy Scouts of America. Over the course of 10 summer days, once every four years, the Boy Scouts of America gathers together. Scouts and Scouters who attend will explore all kinds of adventures— stadium shows, pioneer village, Mount Jack hikes, adventure sports and more— in the heart of one of nature’s greatest playgrounds. With 10,000 acres at the Summit to explore, there’s no shortage of opportunities to build Scouting memories. NCBSA.org/2020SpringRecruitment 13 Adventure Base Camp Located at Camp Champlin, Adventure Base Camp is a program designed to strengthen units and engage the public in Scouting. We offer opportunities for everyone, Scouts and non-Scouts alike. Our open program includes, archery, BB, nature hikes, crafts, fire building, a physical fitness course and more. In addition to our open program, each session of Adventure Base Camp will include a focused event. Scouts can attend with their families, pack, troop, den or patrol. Adventure Base Camp is a chance for Scouts to work toward advancement while embarking on new adventures! For more information or to register visit www.AdventureBaseCamp.org 14 National Youth Leadership Training 2020 Providing Youth with Leadership Skills to bring back to their home units. 2 Course Opportunities in 2020 ($275.00*) • Course 57 (Camp Cachalot) June 27- July 2 • Course 58 (Camp Yawgoog): August 17-22 Requirements: • Scouts (Between ages 13-17 and at least First Class) • Venture/Sea Scout (Between ages 14-20) • Complete ILST, ILSC, or ILSS as appropriate 15 BALOO Training Camp Champlin April 18-19, 2020 • Are you up to date on your training? • Does your Pack want to add camping outdoors to their growing list of Scouting events? This course is designed as an introduction to Cub Scout outdoor program for leaders interested in adding a camping component to their pack activities, Completion of this course is mandatory for a minimum of one adult on a Pack overnighter. 16 IOLS Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills April 17-19, 2020 Working with Patrols, this hand-on course provides adult leaders the practical skills they nee to lead Scouts in the outdoors. Upon completion, leaders should feel comfortable teaching Scouts the basic skills required to earn First-Class rank. Along with Scoutmaster Specific this course is required of all direct contact leaders registered in the Scouts BSA in order to be considered trained. All registrants must attend the Pre-meeting being held 4/8/2020. 17 Den Chief Training March 28th 2020 The Den Chief is a role model for the Cub Scouts, an assistant to the Den Leader and a friend to the youths once they become Scouts. By taking the training and meeting the requirements as outlined in the Den Chief Handbook, he is eligible for the Den Chief Service Award. This training will ensure that the Den Chief does the following: 1.) Serves as a Scouting role model for the Cub Scouts in the den as well as the entire pack. 2.) Promotes Scouting in a general and the local troop in particular. 3.) Encourages the transition of Webelos Scouts into Scouts BSA. 4.) Holds a leadership position in the troop or crew, thus fulfilling an advancement requirement in the unit. 18 Scouting for All Abilities Narragansett Council's Scouting for All Abilities Committee aspires to offer the nation's foremost Scouting program for all individuals by: • Raising the awareness of our Scouting Units for the need for inclusiveness of all youths with varying abilities • Setting the stage for success by providing support and resources to unit leaders, parents, and units to deliver a quality Scouting experience for all Scouts • Offering the latest resources and connections for Scout Leaders to have the opportunity to be continuously educated and trained. Enjoy making crafts, cool science experiments, swimming in the pool, lounging on our beach, going fishing and so much more! Family Camp is one of the only times Cub Scouts have the ability to choose exactly what they want to do and when they want to do it. We provide a safe and fun environment for Cub Scouts to explore while maintaining offerings for every age group - older siblings and parents included! It is also a great way to experience camping for the first time, as staff are available to help you every step of the way.
