And please join us for our remaining productions of the Season: Benjamin Britten’s delightful A Midsummer Night’s Dream, which you will hear featured in tonight’s program, and Verdi’s popular masterpiece Il Trovatore. Also, in June, we will be bringing back Hawaii’s own Quinn Kelsey to star in a concert performance of Rigoletto – a role he has made his own in recent years. Opera Ball 2015: Menu 7 ENTERTAINMENT Shakespeare’s beloved play takes on a new life in Benjamin Britten’s beautiful A Midsummer Night’s Dream. It portrays the adventures of four young lovers and a group of amateur actors, their interactions with woodland fairies and a duke and duchess. Taking place in a mythical Athens and an enchanted forest, there is a handsome fairy king, a bewitched queen, star-crossed lovers, a weaver who is transformed into a half-donkey, wood sprites, and elves. is work is widely performed around the world, and no wonder—it’s about the world’s most popular pastime: falling in love. But as Puck knows, falling in love can make fools of us all. HOT’s Opera Express gives over 70 performances each year. HOT RESIDENCY is award-winning program turns a class, grade level, or even a whole school into an opera production company. With assistance from the professionals at HOT, students, faculty and sta are coached on developing their own opera or producing adaptations of famous operas and operettas. OPERA FOR EVERYONE e nal dress rehearsal for every opera is reserved for education purposes and each year educators bring thousands of students to experience live opera. MAE Z. ORVIS OPERA STUDIO e Studio oers young singers opportunities to work with opera professionals on the HOT sta as well as coaches and teachers from across the country to further develop their vocal and theatrical skills. ORVIS YOUNG VOICES STUDIO is exciting new program oers high school students the opportunity to improve their skills as performers through classes and workshops covering areas such as the voice diction, repertoire, acting, movement and more. Total carat weight 1.61 carats. For a donation of $100, ve entries will be given. Need not be present to win. 10 Opera Ball 2015: Lucky Draw SILENT AUCTION POLICIES, GUIDELINES & RESTRICTIONS e silent auction opens at 6:00 p.m. and closes at 9:45 p.m. e auction checkout station will be located in the Lanai Room and will open at 10:00 p.m. All auction items must be paid for this evening by cash, check, American Express, Visa, MasterCard or Discover, and are subject to Hawaii General Excise Tax. All sales are nal. No exchanges or refunds on auction items will be allowed unless indicated. All items must be claimed the night of the auction unless size or quantity prevents their removal, per approval by HOT sta. Any arrangements and expense for delivery are the sole responsibility of the winning bidder. Any item not picked up from Hawaii Opera eatre’s oce by January 8, 2016 will be considered a donation back to Hawaii Opera eatre.
