“If you care … have a voice”

Who are we? Southgate District Civic Trust (SDCT) is an active campaigning society, with a strong local presence. We listen, advise, and support our members to be a voice and a champion for the local environment where we live and try to protect, enhance and advance our local community.

What do we do?

We talk sense! We enjoy ourselves! We get involved!

Members research the history of the area, producing local history bulletins and publications. We organise meetings open to all on a variety of topics including local history, environmental projects, local issues. Anything interesting!

We lobby the council, our politicians and national bodies when we believe it is necessary. We work closely with Enfield Council on local planning, environmental and social issues. We talk to developers.

We are members of Civic Voice, the national charity for Civic Societies and take an active part in discussions on national issues likely to impact us here in north London.

Where is our local area of interest?

Our area of interest is loosely based on the old Southgate Municipal Borough that was abolished in 1965 when the London Borough of Enfield was created. This area includes:

Southgate Southgate Green New Southgate Palmers Green Winchmore Hill Oakwood
