The Wawanesa Lions Club held an “Art Sale” in conjunction with the Town- Wide Yard Sales on Saturday, May 25. The idea was to give local amateur artists, in particular young artists, the opportunity to showcase their artistic talents and perhaps sell a piece of art. To promote interest, the event was opened to anyone who wished to enter. Quite a wide variety of art was on display at the Lions Clubhouse. Congratulations to Rylee Martin, a Grade 10 student at Wawanesa School, who chose to enter and created a special piece for the occasion. Her pencil sketch of the community’s old fire engine, “Unit Four”, sparked the interest of the Oakland - Wawanesa Volunteer Fire Department who pooled their personal funds to put in a bid to purchase the drawing. Plans are to display “Unit Four” at the Firehall.
