All other applications are dealt with by Officers. This summary gives a brief overview of the applications granted and highlights some of these cases; particular in relation to development that may involve the creation or retention of jobs, either in construction or as part of the built development. 1.3 Between 15th January 2011 and 14th February 2011 there were 62 planning applications granted under delegated powers. This period represents approximately one twelfth of the total number of applications granted under delegated powers in a year. Applications Granted 2.1 Of the 62 granted planning applications, 31 (50%) were for householder applications, mostly for house extensions. It is worth noting the majority of extensions to houses do not require planning permission. Permission is only required generally for the larger or more obvious extensions that may have some impact on neighbours or the street scene. These 31 granted applications mean a significant number of occupiers in the City will be able to make substantial improvements to their homes. These house extensions often involve significant personal investment by the owners that will also support jobs in the local building trade. 2.2 There were 32 (52 %) non-householder applications granted under delegated powers between 15th January 2011 and 14th February 2011. These included commercial development, new residential properties and public sector development. 2.3 Planning permission (10/01105/FUL) has been granted for part demolition, extension and refurbishment at Wednesfield High School. The development will result in improved educational and sports facilities and improves access for the community as part of the Building School s for the Future programme. 2.4 Planning permission ((10/00482/DWF) has been granted at Land Corner of Merridale Street West, Zoar Street. New children’s residential unit will help to build up this much needed specialist accommodation. 2.5 Planning permission (10/01195/FUL) has been granted at 118 Childs Avenue. The proposal brings back into use a vacant property adding to the utility and viability, at the parade of shops will result in two full time and one part time jobs and will create inward investment through the refurbishment of the premises. 2.6 Planning permission (10/01096/FUL) has been granted for extension and refurbishment at Braybrook Centre, Bellamy Lane. The development will result in improved educational facilities and external improvement as part of the Building Schools for the Future programme. 2.7 Planning permission (10/01271/FUL) has been granted for creation of a new place of worship which will also replace a redundant car parking site at 18-24 Chapel Street Bradley. Page 2 of 69 2.8 Planning permission (10/01129/FUL) has been granted at 33 Dudley Road. The proposal will bring back into use a vacant shop and create four jobs. 2.9 Planning permission (10/01106/FUL) has been granted for extension and refurbishment at Coppice Performing Arts School. The development would result in improved educational and sports facilities as part of the Building Schools for the Future programme. 2.10 Planning permission (10/00156/FUL) has been granted for the extension and conversion of 2 Vicarage Road to 10 flats . The proposal is an important part of the regeneration of All Saints making use of an existing building to provide much needed housing in a sustainable location. 2.11 Planning permission (10/01053/OUT) has been granted for the phased redevelopment of the Molineux Stadium. The proposal would result in a significant development at this strategic site in the city. 2.12 Planning permission (10/01108/FUL) has been granted for a new South Wolverhampton and Bilston Academy. The proposal would result in improved educational and sports facilities and assist the regeneration of Bilston Urban Village. 2.13 Planning permission (10/01181/FUL) has been granted for the erection of two family dwellings on a vacant site between 10 and 16 Watson Road. 2.14 Permission (10/01194/FUL) has been granted for the erection two family dwellings on a derelict site adjacent 84 Villiers Avenue, 2.15 Planning permission (10/00322/FUL) has been granted for 10 houses at the former Black Horse Public House, Thompson Avenue. 2.16 Permission (10/01245/FUL) has been granted for a new integrated Pathology building at New Cross Hospital. This will improve the quality of pathology provision at New Cross Hospital. 2.17 Planning permission (10/00598/FUL) has been granted for the redevelopment of Blakenhall Gardens, which provide new housing (25% affordable) and an improved commercial centre. 2.18 Planning permission (10/01264/FUL has been granted for the erection of family house on land to the rear of 98-100 Codsall Road, Tettenhall. 2.19 Planning permission (09/00757/OUT) has been granted for 52 houses (25% affordable) at the Polypipe Factory, Chestom Road, Ettingshall. Conclusion 3.1 The above information briefly summarises the applications that have been granted under delegated powers in Wolverhampton over a period of approximately one month.
