Wednesday, May 23 through December 3, 2018 The World According to Sally Strip Rotation Gallery Sally Brown, Charlie Brown’s little sister, has a sweet innocent side, but also a more cynical view of life than most of the other characters in the Peanuts Gang. A favorite phrase of hers is, “Who cares?” and the answer is: we do! Sally is quick to offer her unedited opinions, establish her privileges and pursue new possibilities. Her unrequited love for Linus is sweet rather than sad and many readers can relate to her indifference to playing sports. When she is thwarted by math, or mangles the English language in front of her classmates, she often ends up telling her frustrations to the beloved school building. The many moods of Sally Brown are revealed through this display of original strips. © Peanuts Worldwide LLC Saturday, May 12, 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm Second Saturday Cartoonist Meet, watch, and talk to cartoonist Nidhi Chanani, illustrator, cartoonist, and writer. • Charlie Brown Character Descriptions
YOU’RE A GOOD MAN CHARLIE BROWN CHARACTER INFORMATION Snoopy Snoopy is an extroverted beagle with a Walter Mitty complex. He is a virtuoso at every endeavor- at least in his daydreams atop his doghouse. He regards his master, Charlie Brown, as "that round-headed kid" who brings him his supper dish. He is fearless though prudently cautious about "the cat next door." He never speaks- that would be one human trait too many- but he manages to convey everything necessary in facial expressions and thought balloons. A one-man show with superior intelligence and vivid imagination, he has created such multiple personalities as: Joe Cool, World War I Flying Ace, Literary Ace, Flashbeagle, Vulture, Foreign Legionnaire, etc. Lucy Lucy Van Pelt works hard at being bossy, crabby and selfish. She is loud and yells a lot. Her smiles and motives are rarely pure. She's a know-it-all who dispenses advice whether you want it or not--and for Charlie Brown, there's a charge. She's a fussbudget, in the true sense of the word. She's a real grouch, with only one or two soft spots, and both of them may be Schroeder, who prefers Beethoven. As she sees it, hers is the only way. The absence of logic in her arguments holds a kind of shining lunacy. When it comes to compliments, Lucy only likes receiving them. If she's paying one--or even smiling--she's probably up to something devious . Charlie Brown Charlie Brown wins your heart with his losing ways. It always rains on his parade, his baseball game, and his life.

Embargoed until 30 November 2015, 3.00 pm MEDIA RELEASE With Love from Snoopy, Charlie Brown & the Peanuts Gang at the Singapore Philatelic Museum in conjunction with SNOOPY AND CHARLIE BROWN: THE PEANUTS MOVIE Snoopy at the Post Office Portugal 6 October 2000 Miniature Sheet Singapore Philatelic Museum Collection “Snoopy is a very contradictory character. In a way he’s quite selfish. He likes to think of himself as independent, and he has dreams of doing things. Without Charlie Brown he couldn’t survive, but Snoopy won’t even give Charlie Brown the love and affection he deserves. That’s part of the humour.” “I patterned Snoopy in appearance after a dog I had when I was about 13 years old. His name was Spike, and he looked a little bit like the original Snoopy. But Snoopy didn’t start off being a beagle. It’s just that ‘beagle’ is a funny word.” Charles M. Schulz (1922 – 2000) Singapore, 30 November 2015 – Charlie Brown, Snoopy and the Peanuts gang are household names today, but did you know that although the comic strip debuted in the United States in 1950, it was only published in Singapore’s newspapers 11 years later in 1961? You can now get your Peanuts fix at Singapore Philatelic Museum’s (SPM) With Love from Snoopy, Charlie Brown & the Peanuts Gang Exhibition in conjunction with SNOOPY AND CHARLIE BROWN: THE PEANUTS MOVIE, running from 2 December 2015 to 30 April 2016. The first comic strip introduced Charlie Brown, and was published on 2 October 1950. This year marks the 65th anniversary of the comic strip, and to celebrate this, a highly anticipated movie titled Snoopy and Charlie Brown: The Peanuts Movie will be released in Singapore cinemas on 10 December 2015.
