The full cast includes: Ensemble Peppermint Patty…….Reagan Etter Marcie……………………Paige Farrell Shermy……………….…Micah Thatcher Freida…………………...Hannah Thatcher Other Cast Members Connor Spalding Mac Rich Vivian Bauer Amelia Phillips Samantha Dyer Synopsis Charles Schulz’s beloved comic comes to life in Clark Gesner’s classic musical, You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown. The whole gang is here: bossy Lucy is hopelessly in love with piano prodigy Schroeder who doesn’t give her the time of day, perfectionist Sally is still mocking blanket-toting Linus, Snoopy is in the doghouse, and “blockhead,” himself, Charlie Brown, is in rare form. Brief vignettes span the months from Valentine’s Day to Beethoven Day, from wild optimism to utter despair. In this revised version, with additional music and lyrics by Andrew Lippa and dialogue by Michael Mayer, the sweet, joyful innocence of the Peanuts gang is maintained, but a fresh insouciance and playfulness is revealed. The new script features two new songs, particularly funny dialogue, and new, catchy orchestrations. Whether you’re keen to fly with the Red Baron, moon over the Moonlight Sonata, or just do your best to find “Happiness,” You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown is a crowd-pleasing classic. You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown Showtimes Friday, November 2, 2018 7:00 PM Saturday, November 3, 2018 7:00 PM Sunday, November 4, 2018 2:00 PM All performances are in Johnson Auditorium! .

  • A CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS Synopsis
A CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS Based on the television special by Bill Melendez Synopsis One Act (55 minutes) Charlie Brown, Snoopy, and all your favorite Peanuts characters come together to retell a classic story about finding the true meaning of Christmas. It’s almost Christmas and the kids are enjoying the season. Well, everyone except for Charlie Brown. While the others ice skate, throw snowballs, and receive Christmas cards, Charlie Brown is feeling depressed about the holiday. Even Snoopy, dressed as Santa, is getting in on the fun. The kids catch snowflakes on their tongues (although Lucy informs the group she only eats January snow), create a snowman, and throw snowballs at a can (which Linus eventually knocks down with his blanket). But, in spite of all the merriment, Charlie Brown is still sad about Christmas. Charlie Brown decides he needs to talk to someone about his sorrow. He goes to see doctor Lucy. Lucy, after happily accepting his money for her service, asks Charlie Brown what he fears. He reveals that he’s feeling down about Christmas. Lucy’s remedy? Charlie Brown needs involvement and she finally convinces him to direct the Christmas play. Much to Charlie Brown’s dismay, Snoopy is decorating his doghouse for Christmas in an effort to win prize money. Meanwhile, Linus and Lucy are attempting to craft the perfect letter to Santa Claus. And, reluctantly, Charlie Brown even helps his little sister, Sally, write her letter to Santa. It’s Charlie Brown’s first rehearsal as director of the Christmas play. However, things quickly go awry.

Newman IN MEMORY OF DAVID PAUL MESLER 11934-19951 whose intuitiveness and intellectual acuity I can only admire, and whose focused and earnest feedback would have been my greatest challenge. I will miss him very much. ABSTRACT In a combination dialogue and exposition format, the presuppositionalism of Cornelius Van Ti! is subjected to careful scrutiny. InAn Introductory Essay the author "collaborates with Lucy Van Pelt" to clarif' the metaphysical role (rather than a presumed epistemological role) that the concept of analogy plays within Van Til's apologetics. The fundamental conclusion of the Essay is that Van Til's account ofhuman knowledge is not a theory that explains the acquisition ofknowledge, but a metaphysical characterization of the status of knowledge ifone should happen to have it. Since apologetics is fundamentally concerned with acquiring knowledge (of God), Van Til's contribution is seen to be irrelevant to the central issues of apologetics. Moreover, in the absence of an account ofhow we come to know what we know, presupposing cannot be introduced to make a methodological contribution. Van Til destroys all cognitive links with the world by his doctrine of analogy, thus making any act of presupposing cognitively blind.

  • Humor and Controversy in Peanuts Social Commentary New Exhibition at the Schulz Museum May 3 – November 2, 2014
Gina Huntsinger Marketing Director Charles M. Schulz Museum & Research Center (707) 579 4452 ext. 268 [email protected] FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: April 22, 2014 “I feel that Peanuts reflects certain attitudes of life in our country today and perhaps some basic fears.” – Charles M. Schulz Detail © 1972 Peanuts Worldwide LLC Detail © 1963 Peanuts Worldwide LLC Humor and Controversy in Peanuts Social Commentary New Exhibition at the Schulz Museum May 3 – November 2, 2014 (Santa Rosa, CA) Health care, gun control, the environment, and racial equality were all topics broached by Charles M. Schulz in the fifty years he created the Peanuts comic strip. His beloved Peanuts characters raised issues of the day; Lucy embraced feminist philosophies, Linus panicked when he mistook snow for nuclear fallout, and Sally whispered about praying in school. Schulz also introduced Franklin, a black Peanuts character, into the predominately white cast July 31, 1968, just months after Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated in Memphis, Tennessee. The Charles M. Schulz Museum and Research Center’s Social Commentary exhibition, which runs May 3 through November 2, 2014, re-examines Peanuts in the context of the social and political climate of the latter half of the twentieth century. In addition to original Peanuts comic strips, the exhibition features original Wee Pals, Gordo, Pogo, and Little Orphan Annie strips. It also highlights reaction letters from the Museum’s archives, and contextual artifacts. Schulz gently communicated the issues of the changing world around him through the unique pathos of his characters and his quick wit. And by remaining universally centrist, he gave readers the opportunity to interpret his comic strips according to their own personal dictates.

LONG NOTES GEORGE WINSTON LINUS AND LUCY – THE MUSIC OF VINCE GUARALDI – VOL. 1: George Winston on Vince Guaraldi (Vince’s name is pronounced “Gurr-al-dee”, beginning with a hard “G) “Vince Guaraldi once said that he wanted to write standards, not just hits, and that he did,” says George Winston. “His music is very much a part of the fabric of American culture, but not many people know the man behind the music, and it is unusual for someone’s music to be better known than their name (some other composers who have also been in this situation are Allen Toussaint, Randy Newman (in the early and mid 1960s), Joni Mitchell (in the mid 1960s), Leonard Cohen (in the mid-1960s), Laura Nyro, Percy Mayfield, Otis Blackwell, and Wendy Waldman). If I play Linus & Lucy and other Vince Guaraldi Peanuts pieces for most kids they will usually say right away, ‘That’s Charlie Brown music’. Vince’s soundtracks for the first 16 of the Peanuts animations from the 1960s & 1970s continue to delight millions of people around the world, and many of his albums remain in print. I like to help make the connection for people that Vince Guaraldi was a great jazz pianist, and that he was the composer of the soundtracks for the first 16 of the Peanuts animation, as well as of many other great jazz pieces. Vince’s best known standards are Cast Your Fate to the Wind, Linus and Lucy, Christmas Time is Here, as well as Skating, and Christmas is Coming. A lot of Vince’s music is seasonal, and it reminds me very much of my upbringing in Montana.
