"Beware the Ides of March", The old soothsayer did say; Julius Caesar wouldn't listen, The warnings hold true today. -Poor Richard's Scrapbook

If the soothsayer was around today some of his warnings might be directed to local politicians and oth- ers for this March 15th. He would likely warn Aurora councillors to get their act together during the last two years of their term or forget about running in the next election as their actions are an embarrassment to many citizens. Another warning would likely go to Councillor Bill Hogg to advise him that if he can't get to council meet- ings on time and stay until the end of the meeting, he should consider whether he has the time for town business. In addition, there is more to being a councillor than attending council and committee meetings, as partici- pation in community functions are also important. Another warning would likely go to Councillor John West for forgetting that the other members of council were elected by the public the same way he was and have every right to express their opinions, whether he agrees with them or not. All members of council, especially Councillor Evelyn Buck, are warned that when they fail to acti- vate their desk microphones they can't be heard by the TV audience and they look silly with their mouth flapping and nothing coming out. On the other hand, perhaps it’s better that way. The soothsayer suggests that all members of coun- cil be required to watch themselves on Aurora Cable Internet and write an essay about their appearance and the impression they make on the viewers. The soothsayer also wants to sympathize with all staff members and the media who are forced to sit through council meetings and listen to the incessant babble that emanates from the meeting without having the opportunity to bring some sanity to the proceed- Once again we have a photo of Old Aurora and no idea when it was taken.
