Seven seats are available, six of them for four-year terms and the last one for a two-year term. The closing date for applications was midnight 25 February 2002. The elections will take place at the XXVI Ordinary UEFA Congress, to be held in Stockholm, Sweden on 25th April 2002. Lennart Johansson was earlier confirmed as the sole nominee for the post of UEFA President. Des Casey (Republic of Ireland), Frantisek Chvalovsky (Czech Republic), and Claude Simonet (France) will retire from the UEFA Executive Committee. Four other members of the UEFA Executive Committee will stand for re-election: Senes Erzik (Turkey), Dr. Viacheslav Koloskov (Russia), Giangiorgio Spiess (Switzerland) and Angel Maria Villar Llona (Spain). The terms of office of four European members of the FIFA Executive Committee: Lennart Johansson (Sweden), Antonio Matarrese (Italy), Per Ravn Omdal (Norway) and David Will (Scotland) will end at the coming FIFA Congress. In the case of Lennart Johansson, once confirmed by the Congress as UEFA President for a new four-year term of office, he would automatically be reconfirmed as a FIFA Vice-President. Per Ravn Omdal will stand for re-election and the UEFA Congress will also elect a new FIFA Vice- President to replace Antonio Matarrese. With regard to David Will, he represents the four British national associations who are allowed to have a permanent member in the FIFA Executive Committee. The occupation of his position will therefore have to be decided by these four associations, and not by the UEFA Congress. The full list of candidates for the various positions is attached.
