In addition to the announcement of the venues for the UEFA club finals for 2011 and 2012 (see UEFA media release 007), they were informed of, and noted the list of the candidates for the upcoming elections at the XXXIII Ordinary UEFA Congress in Copenhagen on 25 March, 2009 for the available seats on the UEFA Executive Committee and FIFA Executive Committee (see UEFA release 008). The Executive Committee also took a number of other decisions. They confirmed the location and date of the Qualifying Draw for UEFA EURO 2012™ as 7 February 2010 in Poland. The UEFA EURO 2012™ media rights strategy was approved by the Executive Committee and the tender process in respect of the European rights will be launched on 6 February 2009. The UEFA Executive Committee also approved the Commercial Concept for UEFA EURO 2012™. The Executive Committee received an update on possible actions that could be taken to further strengthen the club licensing system, especially with a view to improving financial fair play in UEFA competitions. The Executive Committee approved the 2008-12 HatTrick solidarity payments summary of criteria, which must be fulfilled by national associations in order to obtain funding to a maximum of €800,000 from the various UEFA development and incentive schemes. The associations benefit from €1.3 million per association per year in total, of which €500,000 is fixed and €800,000 linked to the aforementioned schemes. This is in accordance with the decision of the UEFA Congress of 2007, which approved the HatTrick scheme for the four-year period from 2008-12 – this being the redistribution via solidarity payments of income earned from UEFA EURO 2008™ to the 53 member associations. On football issues, the Executive Committee received a report from the recent FIFA/UEFA Extraordinary Workshop for European Technical Directors that took place in Paris from 26 to 28 January. They also approved the addition of a further seven member associations to the UEFA Referee Convention. The associations of Faroe Islands, Iceland, Netherlands, Northern Ireland, Malta, Slovakia and Sweden now meet the required standards in terms of organisation and education of refereeing and have signed the convention. Finally, the Executive Committee were advised of the proposed UEFA budget for 2009/10 for submission and final approval by the UEFA Congress. The next meeting of the UEFA Executive Committee will take place on 23/24 March 2009 in Copenhagen, Denmark. For further information: UEFA Media Services: ++41 848 04 27 27 .
