From Local to Universal, a Fight for Human Rights FMDH_couv_CM_EN 5/05/10 10:48 Page 1 "Acting for a new world where human beings are free to speak and free to believe, liberated from fear and misery. " The World Forum on Human Rights held in Nantes every second year has become a must-attend event for all those who are actively involved in the defence of Human Rights. From 30 June to 3 July 2008, the 3rd edition brought together 2,500 delegates and speakers from over 100 countries. The discussions of the Forum clearly showed that, 60 years after the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the defence and the promotion of fundamental liberties remain a constant and arduous fight across the world. During inspiring and lively discussion workshops, participants were given the opportunity to express themselves openly and exchange equally. Economic globalisation and respect for fundamental rights, Human Rights diplomacy, the role of Europe, local governance and local action were among the challenging issues raised during “Nantes 2008”. La Loire-Atlantique affi che ainsi les valeurs les plus faibles de tous les départements de métropole. This paper aims to describe different aspects of critical care in the FTA. For this, we reviewed official 25 information about population size and intensive care unit (ICU) bed capacity in the FTA and literature on FTA ICU specificities. Persons living in or visiting the FTA are exposed to specific risks, mainly severe road traffic 26 injuries, envenoming, stab or ballistic wounds, and emergent tropical infectious diseases. These diseases may 27 require specific knowledge and critical care management. However, there are not enough ICU beds in the FTA. 28 Indeed, there are 7.2 ICU beds/100 000 population in Guadeloupe, 7.2 in Martinique, and 4.5 in French Gui- 29 ana. In addition, seriously ill patients in remote areas regularly have to be transferred, most often by helicopter, 30 resulting in a delay in admission to intensive care.

    Région Pays de la Loire Synthèse du suivi 2011-2019 Les Programmes d’Investissements d’Avenir en région Pays de la Loire Les projets présentés dans ce document de synthèse proviennent des actions des Programmes d’Investissements d’Avenir 1, 2 & 3 (PIA) relevant du domaine de l’Enseignement Supérieur et de la Recherche, partie du PIA sur laquelle l’Agence Nationale de la Recherche (ANR) a été désignée comme opérateur par l’Etat. Ces projets ont été retenus au titre de la région Pays de la Loire car leurs responsables scientifiques et techniques exercent leurs fonctions dans cette région. Les informations relatives à ces projets, et qui sont regroupées dans ce document, proviennent, sauf exception signalée, des comptes rendus scientifiques, des valeurs associées aux indicateurs et des relevés de dépenses fournis, et éventuellement réactualisés par les bénéficiaires lors des campagnes de suivi de 2011 à 2019. Synthèse et faits marquants : 19 projets ont été sélectionnés dans le cadre des PIA en région Pays de la Loire suite aux appels à projets coordonnés par l’ANR, dont deux en 2020 : le projet HFES Hybrid’UNe et le SFRI TRITON. Au 31/12/2019, pour une aide totale d’environ 282,2 M€, 15 de ces projets ont été contractualisés. Fin 2019, 194,8 M€ ont été décaissés par l’ANR, dont 26 M€ au cours de l’année 2019, soit 69 % de la dotation totale. 55,05M€ de cofinancements ont été perçus, en plus des apports initialement prévus par les partenaires des projets. 106 thèses financés, 1254 publications et ouvrages publiés, 537 brevets déposés et 95 start-up créées depuis le démarrage des projets.

Kirwan (MaREI) WP4, Linking Proof of Concepts and Society. The presentation will outline all the work involved in WP4, Linking Proof of Concepts and Society, to date. This work package allows organisations to put forward their novel MRE device or idea. A thorough application process is overseen by the independent selection panel who score each application individually. Successful applicants test their device or idea for a two-week period in one of six state-of-the-art facilities. The test is documented, and a report is written outlining the potentials of the device or idea J. Samuel (University of Plymouth) An outline appraisal methodology for Renewable Energy implementations in Ports.” WP7 is the final work package of the PORTOS project, in which we develop the energy self- sufficiency action plan and decision support tools for application to case study and other ports.
