Part of the Lowther Estate, the George and Dragon is the perfect place for a meal after a day exploring the nearby castle. Long Meg and her Daughters Little Salkeld, Penrith One of the finest stone circles in the north of England, the circle has a diameter of about 350 feet, the second biggest in the country. Long Meg is the tallest of the 69 stones, about 12 feet high and is definitely worth a visit, as is the lovely nearby town of Little Salkeld.
