PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE Academic Experience: 2006 - Present ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY OF GAZA Palestine (Full-Time) Associate Professor Dec. 2013 – Present, ------Assistant Professor 2006 – Nov. 2013  The Islamic University is an independent academic institution located in Gaza. It is a home to the well-planned programmes, a way to the different community levels and a place for researchers and good teachers. IUG is a member of four associations: International Association of Universities, Community of Mediterranean Universities, Association of Arab Universities and Association of Islamic Universities. The Islamic University endeavours to advance learning, foster the expansion of knowledge through teaching and research and encourage community service.  I have been lecturing Political Science and Legal Studies for undergraduate and postgraduate students, essentially in the following subjects: (1) Palestinian Political Studies based on political 1

The main duties include assisting the head of department of managing the academic and administrative process of the department. In addition of taking the full responsibility of the department in the absence of its head. Project Outcomes, Skills Gained and Achievements:  Gained communication skills, problem solving, first hand experience of Palestinian political and legal systems and other political systems in the region. Developed research and lecturing activities. Published articles in relevant journals and newspapers. Achieved the reputation of being one of the political and security analysts working with Arabic and English media outlets. Developed good relationships with different universities, human rights organisations, the local authorities, policy makers, and law enforcement, and introduced this to students. Gained skills of delivering speeches, and negotiation skills, by working on projects of mutual understanding between the university and other academic and governmental institutions and provides capacity-building support to legal, justice and security sectors.

Research, Consultation, and Training Experience (Part-Time): 2008-Present HOUSE OF WISDOM, PALESTINE Palestine Senior Advisor & Trainer  House of Wisdom represents Palestinian Institute for Conflict Resolution and Governance in Palestine: Serving as a Member of the Advisory Board, which consists of Professors, MPs, and Former Advisors to the Palestinian Prime Minister. This organisation is funded by European Organisations, which are concerned with the issue of Conflict Resolutions and Governance in Third World Countries. The central task of this organisation is to provide strategic advice services to the public and private institutions in Palestine and to the Palestinian Government.

2006- Present POLITICAL & SECURITY ANALYSIS Palestine Political & Security Analyst  Working with the local & international media outlets delivering a high number of interviews (2500 interviews during the years 2006-2014). This includes radio & TV channels, and newspapers, principally to analyse the political and security situations in the Middle East, particularly the Israeli- Palestinian Conflict. In addition, participating in conferences and workshops with research centers regarding the Palestinian political and security issues. 2006- Present CREATIVITY FOR CONSULTATION Palestine Trainer & Advisor  Creativity is a Palestinian Training and Consultation Company specialised in strategic management, economics, governance, advocacy, human rights and security issues. It provides training and consultation to local businesses, NGOs and Palestinian public institutions.

2010- 2013 CENTRE FOR POLITICAL & DEVELOPMENT STUDIES (CPDS) Palestine Deputy Head of Board of Trustees  The CPDS is a Palestinian NGO, specialised in research, training and consultation in political and development studies. It provides training and consultation to local businesses, NGOs and Palestinian public institutions.

Other Experience (Full-Time): 2006-2007 UNRWA Palestine (Full-Time) Security and Safety Officer  Responsibilities included: providing overall effective supervision and management; carrying out, planning and organising functions to ensure that security is provided to UNRWA installations across the Gaza Strip; providing administrative operations support and intensive training to the guards system of about 1600 members of staff of different contracts; assisting the Field Administration Officer in the development and implementation of overall security and safety standards, guidance, and procedures; undertaking investigations and inquiries on behalf of the administration; establishing and maintaining relationships with the local police, fire brigades, hospitals, and other relevant local authorities; and acting as Field Administrative Services Officer in his absence. Project Outcomes, Skills Gained and Achievements:  Gained direct and through understanding of the developing humanitarian needs of Palestinian refugees, and political context surrounding the issue of security in the area. Gained skills of managing a high number (about 1600) of employees in the security domain. Directed senior security personnel to implement security policy on the ground through instructions, presentations and training. In this capacity, I promoted excellent relationships with local law enforcement officials, community groups, and other local authorities and thus achieved a high standard of security management for the overall security system and installations of the UNRWA across the Gaza Strip where communication, management and investigation skills and latest technology implemented. 2004-2006 BRADFORD ACTION FOR REFUGEES UK (Full-Time) Advice and Advocacy Officer  Tasked with advocating the rights of asylum seekers and refugees. This was carried out by establishing channels of communication and coordination with local and national institutions including the Immigration Authorities and the Court Services in the UK; assisting in the provision of continuing day-to-day welfare, including the reduction of health inequalities of the refugee and asylum seeker communities in Bradford; developing training and educational opportunities for refugees and asylum seekers in Bradford in conjunction with local colleges and other institutions; assisting in the coordination of statutory, voluntary and other services offering advice and assistance to refugees and asylum seekers settling in Bradford; and assisting in the supervision of volunteers and trainees working for the project.

Curriculum Vitae DR HANI ALBASOOS Project Outcomes, Skills Gained and Achievements:  Using my communication, languages (Arabic/English) and other educational and background skills, I achieved emotional and subsistence support for many refugees and shared in developing an approach of integration for many refugees who came from troubled countries and arrived in the UK seeking refuge and asylum from persecutions, helping them to settle in Bradford city. This was achieved through providing high quality reception, advice and information, promoting the development of refugee communities, improving access to employment and mainstream services, and enhancing opportunities for refugees and asylum- seekers, and raising awareness, influence policy, and campaign for refugee rights. 2003-2004 HOSPITALLER ORDER OF SAINT JOHN OF GOD UK (Full-Time) Community Support Worker  Responsibilities included: assisting service users in the provision of initial support to people with learning difficulties; providing care and dispensing medication; maintaining medical records; liaising with social workers, medical centres, local organisations and relatives; and supporting persons with learning difficulties to develop techniques towards overcoming problems in their daily life. Project Outcomes, Skills Gained and Achievements:  Developed communication skills and work efficiently and competently in a team to provide quality service to service-users. Shared with other staff members the promotion of independence and the development of each individual's personal skills and knowledge, assisting them to become a valued part of the community in which they live. 2002-2003 NATIONWIDE & PREMIER PROTECTION UK (Full-Time) Security Officer  Providing security to non-governmental organisations and local businesses; and responding to emergencies concerning the secured premises in coordination with the local police. Project Outcomes, Skills Gained and Achievements:  Effective management of security systems and risk assessment to minimise the risk by reducing business vulnerabilities, and make them focus on the smooth running of the business operation 1998-2001 THE PALESTINIAN POLICE Force Algeria & Palestine (Full-Time) Police Officer, Lieutenant  As a Lieutenant, was dispatched to Algeria for further education and training in the Algerian Police. Appointed as a team leader for 15 Palestinian police officers reporting directly to Police Chief in the Palestinian Embassy in Algeria. Also provided leadership, management, administration, and disciplinary duties. In July 2000, was appointed to the Criminal Investigation Department in Gaza City. Responsibilities included: receiving and investigating complaints from the local community; preparing criminal files and sent them to the Attorney General; liaising between different local groups within the community in order to smoothly implement the law; providing administrative and management duties and supervising officers in lower ranks; and improving relations with the local community and locally based law enforcement personnel including lawyers, police officers and prosecutors. Responsibilities included providing and developing training to staff members and police officers in lower ranks. Project Outcomes, Skills Gained and Achievements:  Developed communication, management and leadership skills, and increased the ability to coordinate and cooperate with various institutions and the local community in order to implement law and order and provided capacity-building support to legal, justice and security sectors. I participated in the process of building of police-community partnership through the 4

Encouraged community support and involvement in crime prevention programmes, and created community awareness about the role of the police in the society. One of the achievements of the Palestinian police force was supporting civilian disarmament by providing a mechanism of reintegration for former members of different political and military factions, and trained them to the standard of police officers in order to be able to participate in the process of providing capacity building to the security and legal sectors and deal with civilian population. This included police, management and legal training to support the establishment of a management structure to ensure control over the police forces by senior officers. In addition, I assisted in establishing and providing capacity-building to the justice system in coordination with the office of the Attorney General, judges, and court personnel in order to ensure accountability of the police force

 30- 31 March 2013: I was the Head of the Media Committee for an international conference titled “Palestinian National Security”. The conference was organised by the Postgraduate Academy for Management & Politics in Gaza, Palestine.

 17-18 Dec. 2012: I participated in an international conference in Beirut titled “Security Sector Reform and Transformation in Arab Transition: Towards a New Community of Practice”. The conference was organised by the ESCWA & Carnegie Centre for the Middle East.

 20-21 Oct. 2012: I moderated a session where Prof. Noam Chomsky talked to the audience, in an international conference, about discourse analysis. The conference titled “Applied Linguistics and Literature” held at the Islamic University of Gaza.
