ABOUT ‘CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY’

The world-famous Willy Wonka is opening the gates to his mysterious factory… but only to a lucky few. Young Charlie Bucket, Veruca Salt, Violet Beauregard, Augustus Gloop and Mike Teavee have all won golden tickets and will embark on a life-changing journey through Wonka’s world of pure imagi- nation including chocolate waterfalls, nutty squirrels and the great glass elevator, all to be revealed by Wonka’s army of curious Oompa-Loompas.

ABOUT ‘PHOENIX ENSEMBLE’

Unassumingly nestled within Beenleigh showgrounds, Phoenix Ensemble has been producing award-winning theatre for 25 years. From intimate small-cast shows to more elaborate Broadway-style show stoppers ‘The Tin Shed’ has been a heart of the community for a quarter of a century and has no plans to stop any time soon!

Phoenix Ensemble presents a unique theatre experience in the Pavilion Theatre or what has affection- ately become known as “The Tin Shed”. This intimate theatre accommodates 90 people in comfortable raked seating giving every patron an up close and personal experience. Our shows both rehearse and perform at this theatre, which is located within the Beenleigh Showgrounds, James Street, Beenleigh.

Phoenix Ensemble’s aim is to produce an eclectic mix of shows from family favourites to shows that push the envelope of . They have won countless awards and are regularly nominated in the Gold Coast Arts Palm Awards.

Upon accepting a role with Phoenix Ensemble you will be required to become a financial member on the first rehearsal ($24, payable only by Credit/Debit Card). At this same time a $25 Cash Deposit is re- quired for rehearsal materials which will be provided (this is returned during Bump Out). Membership ensures all participants are covered by our Voluntary Workers Personal Accident Insurance. You will receive more information upon acceptance. You will be asked to provide very little else during your time with us as we prefer to let you enjoy your experience!

ENSEMBLE An exhuberent mix of characters. The following characters will also be picked from the ensemble. We will also be looking for 6 spectacular dancers who will take on the brunt of the choreography in ‘More of Him to Love’, ‘What Could Possibly Go Wrong’, ‘The Queen of Pop’ and all of the Oompa-Loompa-led choreography.

INDIVIDUAL AUDITIONS SAT OCT 24 FROM 10.30AM

 By appointment only; individual 15 minute private sessions.  Prepare two contrasting songs in the style of the show. One must be musical theatre, but if you are auditioning for a lead character maybe think of a song in the style of their character to contrast.  Do not sing a song from the show.  No piano accompaniment will be provided. Please bring a backing track on USB or on an AUX cord compatible device. If you have new iPhone do not forget the Lightning to Audio Jack dongle.  You may be required to read during your individual private audition. Sides will be provided at a later date.  Ensure you have seen the choreography videos from Jaime. There will be very limited time in the audition to re-teach choreography.  Please bring a Colour headshot (minimum size 10cm X 15 cm). Non-returnable.  Bring your audition form, completed in full and listing ALL clashes with the CatCF Calendar (supplied in this document).  Bring/wear appropriate dance shoes (jazz/chorus or similar if you have them) and wear clothes you can move in. Do not wear thongs.  We expect you to be warmed up both vocally and physically.

 Group call - registration required.  Look at the videos that have been provided. You will recap a short dance routine and present it as a group. Bring/ wear appropriate dance shoes (jazz/chorus or similar if you have them) and wear clothes you can move in. Please do not wear thongs.  You will learn a musical excerpt and present it in small groups. No preparation is required for this.  If you are interested in a small speaking role, there will be an opportunity during this time to read.  Please bring a Colour headshot (minimum size 10cm X 15 cm). Non-returnable.  Bring your audition form, completed in full and listing ALL clashes with the CatCF Calendar (supplied in this document).  Bring/wear appropriate dance shoes (jazz/chorus or similar if you have them) and wear clothes you can move in. CALLBACKS & OFFERS

 If you are offered a callback, you will be required to learn a musical excerpt from the show.  All offers of callbacks will be advised by telephone at the end of the audition period and any additional material will be available for download online.  All auditionees will be notified via email or phone of their offer or otherwise at the completion of the audition process.

Only limited absences in rehearsals will be accommodated as our rehearsal process is short and our cast is relatively small. These must be recorded on your audition form to allow us to prepare rehearsal schedules productively. Please discuss any concerns with us when you book your audition. 2.
