This very day young lives are being molded into distorted personalities, al- coholics, drug addicts, prostitutes, crim- inals, and mental retardates (through brain damage from physical abuse). Childhood These same individuals will in the not- too-distant future become parents them- selves and be responsible for shaping the future of their offspring. It is frightening to For the first time, enough goods were 4 JUNE 2021 THE EVANGELIST available at all levels of society; therefore, parents held aspirations of “something bet- ter” for their children than they had had. Their “American dream” persisted throughout the succeeding genera- tions — up until now. Now, we are beginning to see the children moving down from the levels attained by parents. Why is this happening? For one thing, it’s a conscious choice on the part of many young people. While some are still driven by the will to suc- ceed and improve their status, many have become disillusioned with the complex- ities and pressures that society imposes as the price of success. Many, having seen how their parents have reacted to success (and seeing the actual degree of lifestyle enhancement delivered by success), have chosen to drop out. In the 1960s, young people began to follow this path, with the tradition of doing better than their parents taking a backseat to the new philosophy of doing their own thing. They often rejected even- tual rewards for early la- bor, opting for the im- mediate (albeit smaller) reward for the easier life now. While something can be said for the more realistic perspective of some young people today, their atti- tude does little to im- prove the general quality of society. 5 The Priceless Corner We have set aside this corner of The Evangelist to show God’s plan of salvation. If you are unsure where you will go when you die, please listen to what God has said in His Word: 1. GOD LOVES YOU! “For God so loved the world, that he gave His only begotten Son, During the post-World War II years, society was preoccupied with (perhaps that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16). obsessed with) the needs, wants, psychological development, and constant 2. (and hearts) the insidious message that if you don’t instantly and constantly “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” (Rom. 3:23). gratify your children, they won’t love you. Well, they did gratify them — and 3. JESUS CHRIST IS THE ONLY REMEDY FOR SIN their children still don’t love them. Score another one for the great god of “For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, modern science. that He might bring us to God ...” (I Peter 3:18). As a result, we are now seeing a withdrawal from the concept of the child as “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved” the center of the parents’ universe. YOU MUST RECEIVE JESUS CHRIST AS YOUR PERSONAL LORD AND SAVIOR their traditional need to channel all of their energies into motherhood. We Jesus calls this experience the new birth. He told Nicodemus: can only guess what tomorrow’s child will face. “Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God” (John 3:3). What we really need is balance. The M Street Journal Radio's Journal of Record NEW YORK NASHVILLE September 2, 1998 Vol. 15 No. 35 CUSTOM ONLINE JUKEBOX. "Imagineradio.com" gives you the freedom to choose your favorite artists -- AND how often you want to hear them on your custom - programmed "radio station." Is this a threat to radio? You bet -- one of many that lurk at the edges of technology, like the Year 2000 launch of satellite DAB radio, 100 -disc CD jukeboxes and -- the ultimate -- wireless Internet access for your car. The new "Imagineradio.com" website even mimics the LOOK of a radio receiver on your computer screen, and contains links to artist information and the online retailer "Cdnow ", in case you have the impulse to buy that Celine Dion CD right away. M Street continues to watch the encroachment of New Media onto the territory once owned by terrestrial radio. While it may be primitive now, few expect it to stay that way. Like -- Did you see that "Broadcast.com" carried live video and audio FEMA briefings about Hurricane Bonnie? WE BE JAMMIN ". "Jammin' Oldies" may become the new tagline for the rhythmic oldies format variation that began in Los Angeles as "Mega." In the past week it's shown up in Dallas (on former "Texas' Best Rock" KTXQ) and Tampa Bay (on the former soft AC "Love" WILY, St. Petersburg). The early Western U.S. converts are still using the identifier "Mega" -- but they're in markets with a strong Hispanic influence. The "Jammin' Oldies" that just launched in Dallas and Tampa may lean more black than Hispanic, and " Jammin'" may be a stronger slogan for them.
