BARF is a synonym for “Bones And Raw Food” and this type of diet is becoming popular in Manitoba as an increasing number of people are switch- ing to a more natural method of feeding their . Christine Kaskiw is one of these people. She owns, shows, and trains three German Shepherds, one of which is a puppy. She has been feeding her dogs the raw food diet for almost ten months now. “I’ve definitely noticed a big differ- ence since switching to raw,” she says. “Their coats are thick and shiny, their teeth are clean, and there’s a lot less shedding. Their health is just better overall.” The raw food diet consists of raw meat - usually chicken, turkey, beef and lamb, though some people feed rabbit and even bison - and a mixture of raw vegetables. The world is thrown into turmoil, as mankind is being threatened with extinction, for reproduction would be impossible under such circum- stances. To eradicate the problem, families can turn to the government for termination or they can pur- chase the latest in the popular line of chainsaws, Bruce Campbell’s Right Hand, complete in polka dot finishing so you can kill your daughter in style. The film is incredibly amateurishly gory and insanely creative. If you didn’t get the Bruce Campbell reference, the twisted and bizarre humour in this film will probably annoy the hell out of you. Be forewarned however, the movie gets strangely metaphys- ical and has the most drawn out, sappiest ending I have seen since Return of the King (that doesn’t seem like saying much, now that I think of it). Then there was the film Versus, which has got to be the most fun I have had watching a film in a really long time. If you are a Kill Bill fan, this film really is for you. It takes place in the Forest of Resurrection, where an ex-convict and a mafia boss battle over one of the 666 por- tals to “the other side”.
